I managed to stay clean yesterday and no punting on average
racing. York is always a decent meeting and CD form is always important.
Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost had tipped:
1.45 York – Lahaag 10/1
2.45 York – Lily Rules 16/1
3.15 York – Jack Dexter 6/1, Body and Soul 16/1
My go…
1.05 Saint Cloud – Shamkala looks decent
1.45 York – Big things were expected of Rye House 4/1. Gone big ew. Romped home last time over C&D and
despite injury have faith Stoute wouldn’t be running without a chance of
winning. Imagine will step up out of handicap company following this. Had a
dabble on the Rye House/Tres Coronas forecast 40/1 too. Awake My Soul could get
closer this time round at the weights to Rye House and Segal’s pick Lahaag was
second in this last year, but all on Rye House.
2.15 York – Aetna 12/1
won me a decent prize 2 races ago but then lost me a few nice acss next time
out. Hoping was the ground and returns back to the progressive horse she was as
looks ahead of her mark. Lancelot Du Lac
10/1 is a solid horse and loves York. Ivory does well with these types and has
an entry in Diamond Jubilee Stakes so must be held in high regard. On that form
Picture Dealer might be a big price but has not run too well first time out
before. Hmm one of many tough handicaps today. I have Secret Witness,
Summaerinthecity, Yeeoow, Royal Rascal, Blaine and Baccarat all on the
shortlist still. Fahey unsure about Baccarat on this ground, else would have
been 3rd pick and similar story for Yeeoow. I really want to back
Secret Witness but stable is in the dumps at the moment so will leave.
Summerinthecity runs well fresh but maybe slightly high in handicap which is
why I assume is a claimer onboard. Royal Rascal I’m sure has a chance but I’m
not sure is well handicapped. Blaine
10/1 is being aimed at the Wokingham and to be safe will need a few pounds.
Is a concern about the ground but reckon is worth chancing.
York 2.45 – Hmm tough. There could be a heck of a lot of
pace in this which on this ground could blow some of them up. So I’m inclined
to go with an outsider in Lady Heidi 8/1
who will be held up and like the ground. I know Channon thinks a lot of Nancy
from Nairobi but really has to step up. Regardez might be decent as the only
Oaks entry Beckett has, Cambridge has been well touted but are ground concerns.
Could go on. Queen of Ice 4/1 looks
decent as does Shama
York 3.15 – Segal has gone for Jack Dexter who has been laid
out for the race. Maarek might not have the ground soft enough and has a big
weight to carry. Astaire has a tough ask for a 3yr old, and I think the one to
be with is Tropics 12/1, another
Ivory horse who has won here and is a G3
winner. Is also top rated.
York 3.50 – Think the top two in market are right. That’s The Spirit 4/1 and Tea Leaf 5/1
5.00 York – Gabrials Star looks short enough but if
reporsoduces effort last time must be in with a shout. This is a tough race and
another careful not to lose all your money race, but Fahey is mob handed as obviously
wants to win this. The best of his looks to be Mika Mika 12/1. In good form on AW. We know he stays, know he goes
on soft and has won here before. Ebony
Express 12/1 also looked really progressive last year. Bumped into Esteaming
and not sure what happened at Epsom, but every chance will improve again today
in conditions likely to suit. Pligrims Rest and Astra Hall were also on short list.
