Chelts 12.15 - Redford Road is the best horse on OR, but taking a step back in trip with stable struggling for winners and a 5lb penalty for winning a G2 race is likely too much. Grand Mongul could be anything but it's a stablemate I like. Welsh Saint xxx rousted a field last time out and given Some Detail was beaten at the festival last year by a similar distance by Envoi Allen and co then I'm hoping Welsh Saint 9/4 is going to be somewhere close to that league.
Chelts 12.50 - Cogry was a big winner for me last time out, but surely Singlefarmpayment turns the tables today with a 4lb pull. Another Venture brings strongish form but Chester Williams hasn't ridden a winner here at this tough course so I going to assume not massively fancied. Commodore looks too high in the weights. Anteros is a danger despite age, as has won a listed hurdle race at the course of a higher mark and won on this ground but on balance is old and has fallen too many times for my liking. Doing Fine was my cliff horse last year and is still well handicapped. Kingswell Theatre a threat back in trip but I think prefers better ground. On clear cut but SFP 4/1 brings the form and down in grade can take this.
Chelts 1.25 - Champ 4/7 is very short but looks like the winner here. Could have won by a massive margin had it not had 3 calamities.
Chelts 2.00 - Kalashnikov and Oldgrangewood bring strong handicap form to table but both pushed up the weights a fair whack here. Ok Corral taking a strange big step back in trip which is odd. Ballyhill would have won the race last year off this weight but in dire form so can't back it. Lalor was a big hope for Chelts festival horse last year and perhap if headgear works with step up in trip we'll see the real Lalor. Mister Whitaker had a decent end to the season and I'm tempted but until see him this year is a risk. Saint Calvados is likley to benefit from step up but the way Vaniteux nearly collared him couple races ago up the hill worries me. Cepage another huge threat as was closing quick enough over C&D last time but race not long ago and this step up in class. The horse that calls out is Ex Patriot. 4th in Triumph, easy winner of a handicap couple races back even if up in the weights and ran in couple decent graded races which plenty of potential.
Ex Patriot 11/1ew
Lalor 16/1ew
Chelts 2.35 - The Jam Man would have been interesting if second place had gone on to win, but looks like the 16lb rise might make it tough. Skandiburg looks ahead of mark and Anytime will do may have won last time out if didn't rock and roll all over the place in run in.
Skandiburg 11/2
Anytime Will Do 12/1ew
10.00am 01/01 update- given AWD is a NR will hit The Jam Man 11/2. Was much bigger when wrote above! Oh well
3.10 Chelts - Roskana 11/2
3.40 Chelts - Out of time, shouldn't bet but :) Quick Draw 12/1ew
