16/02/2012 Bets

Yesterday was slightly painful. Having watched Baby Shine get badly hampered and nearly taken out by the rails, it was clear that Baby Shine would have won. Little Fritz just needed another few yards and I think would have nosed out It's a Gimme. But that's punting, right!? Bad beats, narrow beats, big beats - a beat is a beat, and all would have ended in no £700 profit to show. However, it does make me feel good knowing how close I was, and spurs me on more to that ever elusive big win. Arsenal were not close last night. That was a beasting.

I have limited time today, which is a phrase inharmonious with research. There is no excuse, no leeway, for minimal research. One needs to be meticulous.

2.35 Clonmel - Bishopsfurze – If can keep jumping together should be a stroll, but not sure if it’s worth the punt at the odds and not really looked at the others.

3.05 Clonmel – This is not as easy as Mullins might want for Back in Focus, although if produces anything like this time last year holds a strong chance. There are a lot of other chances in here, so on second thoughts, skip on basis have no time to lookie lookie

Leicester – Henderson has a 45% strike rate here…

4.35 Leicester – This is tough. Prince of Pirates is the McCoy/Henderson Dream Leicester Combo. But so many with a chance.

Meydan – I follow horses who’ve flown home in previous races and up in trip. Has to be proven on surface. And AUS horses have a sick record here.

Meydan 2.30 – I follow the AUS horses here a lot and Scarf will be no exception. Canwinn looks interesting if given an earlier ride. If Primaeval runs might be interesting

Meydan 3.05 – Zain Shamardal. This one is for Fattuhi. Needs an earlier ride.

Meydan 3.45 – Rerouted to fly home with extra furlong and an earlier ride. Delegator’s record fresh is immense, but keen to take on. Rerouted is pace maker for my boy Frankel. The Comedian AUS AUS AUS

Meydan 4.20 – Green Beret won this last year albeit of a mark 7lb lower. Think this is a really daft bet after that last statement.

Meydan 4.55 – Derbass won this last year. Rio is the class horse but ran badly in only run here.

  1. On the basis this is going well today, there's an AUS horse I've missed in the next £5.00 e/w Always Certain 16/1 - Could tarnish my day and this is definitely against the rules (backing 3 horses in one race), but meh.
