Bets 01/08/2012 - Glorious Goodwood Day 2

Made up for the quoting fopar on Monday by calling out “Uppercut 20/1 is massively overpriced” yesterday. And so it was. Love it when a 20/1 comes in. And on the same agenda Hurricane Higgins is also massively overpriced today. I backed this horse last week saying the same thing but it was a non-runner. Frankel runs today and although I’m excited it’s should be a walk over just like the Swedes despatching the Brits yesterday in handball. What a sport! Punting on it is awesome too.

Goodwood 2.00 – Hurricane Higgins 25/1 (same as I’m going to do!) – I drafted the above last night but Segal also writes “massively overpriced”. He has also picked out Cape Express 8/1

9.45am update...I'm on holiday today as the below might suggest...

Goodwood 2.00 – Sorted for this race. Hurricane Higgins 25/1 and Cape Express 8/1. I’ve already talked about the first one being overpriced. Having looked at it more there are doubts over stamina, but having seen Johnston’s horses bolt over when stepped up I’m not as concerned. Might have a nibble on Beyond 12/1 as well. Can’t rule out Pipe in these staying races.

Goodwood 2.35 – My heart says Olympic Glory 4/1, but my head says if Gosden has said Ghurair 2/1 is one of the best 2yr olds he has then back it!

Goodwood 3.10 – Not entertaining this Frankel win. Sorry romp.

Goodwood 3.45 – A tough one. I have to avoid backing 7 horses like I did yesterday. Thankfully they came, 1^st, 3^rd and 4^th but only back the 1^st place with a small bet. Segal has picked out Sir Graham Wade 14/1. Goodwood Atlantis 16/1 was switched soooo many times in last race and hope Durcan is the right man to ride him, but looks value at the price. I’m now stuck with Mawaqeet, Scatter Dice, Rule Book, Handsome Man and Cardinal Water. Grrr. Well as much as I might regret this I’ll take out Scatter Dice and trends say all 9 penalised runners have been beaten. Taking Handsome Man out based on fact he’s now up 7lb without the jockey claim. Rule Book 8/1 is going to get backed. Hughesy likes him. Scouring through form lines I find Cardinal Water has little chance against Rule Book. I am sceptical about taking him out, but I have too. Can I back a fourth? Hmm. Ok. Mawaqeet 16/1 based on from with Trade Commissioner.

Goodwood 4.55 – Backed My Queenie 14/1 last time out and will stick with her.

Goodwood 5.30 – Dubawi Sound 3/1 is place to start.
