Tom 'Pricewise' Segal from the RacingPost has tipped up four today:
Sandown 2.05 - Night Carnation 5/1
Sandown 2.40 - Con Artist 16/1, Stage Attraction 14/1
Sandown 3.45 - Crackerjack King 12/1
My thoughts later.....
10.30am update....
Sandown 2.05 –
This is uber tough and one probably to avoid. Tom Segal has plumped for Night
Carnation 5/1 to repeat his last year’s victory. The draw plays a huge part in
this race and I did my homework and it’s true. You have to stick low. I can’t decide
who I want to pick between Spirit Quartz, JnJ, Elnawin. I’m veering towards JnJ
(7/1) and as long as the jockey times the front running right, might be hard to
peg back in the testing ground.
Sandown 2.40 – Segal
has gone with Con Artist 16/1 and with the SBS stable returning to form is a
good price. He has also gone with Stage Attraction 14/1. I’m doing well with my
favourites and although backing one in a huge handicap field at shortish odds
is never a good idea, Gosden is still flying and I think Trade Commissioner
(5/2) is decent.
Sandown 3.10 – Starscope
10/11
Sandown 3.45 –
Tommy S has picked out Crackerjack King 12/1. Never originally on my shortlist,
but after Afsare franked his form, you have every good reason to think that
this is a solid bet! I can’t have the ‘unlucky’ Farrh. Nathaniel is a better
12f horse and it’s his first back in a while, but can you rule out Gosden?
Bonfire’s get a huge allowance but none of his form stacks up. Twice Over
worries me as does have good form here, but I’ll only ever back him at York or
Newmarket. The one I wanted to back all week but didn’t is Cityscape 11/2, who
is a solid consistent performer. Could have had him at 14/1 if wasn’t so lazy,
but I am
Sandown 4.20 –
Cavalryman 7/2. Best OR, and think is better than this class.
Haydock 2.55 – I’m
not likely to shift away from Gosden’s team and Great Heavens 7/2 has bolted up
on heavy previously and gets a lovely weight allowance.
Haydock 3.25 –
And just like I can’t get away from Gosden’s team, I can’t get away from McCain’s
boys. Lexi’s Boy 5/2 can progress a bit further I reckon. Shame Lee is not up,
but still think he has another win in him. At bigger prices a few I like but
not sure which way to go. Number Theory 10/1, Easy Terms 11/1, and Becausewecan
40/1. Hmmm.
Haydock 4.35 –
Gabrial The Great was backed heavily at Ascot. Think the Morning Line and Segal
did that though. Proofreader 5/2 was hard ridden for a long way and just kept
pulling it out the bag. Tactics will play a part meaning Spencer probably edges
it, but I’m staying on the Gosden bandwagon.
Haydock 5.10 –
Alben Star 3/1 has run in some decent races, however Morache Music should bag
this 10/11. Potential forecast?
Haydock 5.40 – Tioman
Pearl 7/2. Penultimate race was very impressive and Varian has a tremendous strike
rate at Haydock
