Bets 12/07/2012 - July Cup Day 1

Didn’t think Segal was going to get involved today, but he has! I did most of research last night and am with him on both of his selections! Lot of non-runners hopefully makes this easier?

Newmarket 1.20 – The class horse is clearly Shantaram, but the ground is a worry. He really stuggled here on soft last time and the clock showed it slower by 5 seconds than the other races that day! Valiant 9/4 looks like he could be tough work to get going but if does get going could be the one to beat. Haggas/Murtagh is also a combo to keep on side.

Newmarket 1.50 – Ladbrokes don’t seem to be avoiding Gale Force Ten, so will stick with Hannon. Segal has tipped up Ahern 6/1 which is also on my list. Having now watched his race I think he’ll appreciate step up.

Newmarket 2.25 – Has the handicapper let a Gosden horse in lightly? I think they may well have. Nabucco 9/2 looks good value. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has also tipped this up, but he did at 6/1! I backed this last night. Grrr. The other I like is Greek War 8/1 who bolted up here last time out.

Newmarket 3.00 – I’m a huge Red Cadeaux fan, but I think Harris Tweed 11/4 might take advantage of the ground by getting an easy lead and get RC gets a 3lb penalty.

Newmarket 3.35 – All the money seems to be for Supernova Heights so far. Fleeting Smile’s form is solid, but far too many ‘have no idea’ how good they could be horses in here. Shuruq could also go well from the SBS yard. Hmmm, should probably avoid.

Newmarket 4.05 – Mukhadram 9/4 goes well here and looks a good bet

Newmarket 4.40 – Don’t think anyone is going to get a soft lead here and so if Fallon can time this and Medici Time 16/1 doesn’t need the headgear think price is decent value.

Epsom 7.20 -  Gunslinger 20/1 to bounce back or Reggie Perrin 7/2. Both go well here.
