1.55 - Hmm. Minefield. I suspect it's best to be drawn low, but there are some decent horses drawn high! There is one horse in this field though that will always have my eye. Hurricane Harry 12/1; Cost me about £7k when beat Bogart at York after I'd landed a 12/1 and 10/1 in first two legs of the treble. I tried to reconcile and quickly spotted was 2nd in the Portland of couple lbs lower. Also spotted decent entries as a 2yr old so clearly this one is well thought of. I'm worried he has stall problems as has lost lengths before and you just can' do that in sprints. Overall, C&D winner, trainers last 2 runners have won, this is one of few progressive horses in fields. The other is Captain Colby 12/1. Could have and maybe should have beaten Alpha Delphini at York last time, but for a poor ride. Buick onbaord and that form has to be the best handicap form on show. If the high draw is not a negative liking it's chances. Zanetto 33/1 has a chance for a place based on last run at York. Red Pike has franked form and this horse has won a listed race before on lifetime high of 109
2.30 - Best of Days 5/4. Really very impressive on debut. A lot of other decent potential. Godolphin buying the horse a few days back must be a sign of how good the horse is?
3.05 - AOB doesn't have a very good record at York. Never won this race. Last 6 horses all beat. However this must be his best chance to change all that. Idaho 5/6 rocks up after going close in 2 G1s. This is a step down in class.
3.40 - 10.5 furlongs, York. Arabian Queen 50/1 bt Golden Horn last yr! Still can;t believe that. Anyhow. Postponed is unbeaten around the world in 5 G1/2 races, but yard is out of form and Postponed is not a 10furlong horse on paper so we have to the take him on. Hawkbill a G1 winner with serious formlines is a solid proposition. 3 yr old allowance alone puts this ahead of Postponed but why he not run at Ascot few weeks back?! Highland Reel was given a masterclass ride by Ryan in the KG. No Ryan today. Wings of Desire was back in second. Win the C&D Dante win under belt Wings of Desire 14/1 shouldn't be double the price of HR. Dupre has had 2 wins from 2 runs at York. Dariyan 18/1 has won a G1 over 10.5f and the horse he beat that day has also won a G1.
4.20 - Urgh - Hate long distance races. Oceane should have won last time out. I'm not a big Sweeney fan though and last run at the course was bad. Maybe was ground though? Nakeeta 10/1 has a very good claimer onboard and solid course form. Renneti 10/1 2nd in Caeserwitch both solid chances. Eshitaal 16/1 good place chance; improving C&D winner. Repeater could be a total plot job @ 16/1. Tough race
4.55 - Naafer 8/1. Course winner and solid form but draw could be bad.
