Bets 30/06/2014

Love it when I land a 25/1 shot. I only backed it as AOB said was decent. Backed it last two times and flopped but just won this time. Annoyed about Ambivalent. If I would have known Segal backed it @ 4/1 I wouldn't have touched it as value would have disappered! Oh well.

Windsor 7.30 - I backed Perfect Cracker 3/1 £75 ew last night. It's drifted to 6/1. Can't be good news. I watched the video 3 times and I really don't think the favourite can turn this around with 1lb difference. The market thinks will though. Hmmm

Bets 29/06/2014

Saved by the last yesterday. Just went all in. And as a result of Osborne's lot being in good nick I am really look forward to seeing Toast of New York win across the pond.

2.40 Salisbury - Secret Millionaire 5/2.

4.15 Salisbury - Sunny Future 2/1

4.20 Curragh - Ambivalent 15/8

Not going to get too involved at Curragh as don't have time. Might look at I am Beautiful 25/1 and Carlo Bugatti 4/1

Bets 28/06/2014

Decent winners yesterday. As predicted Johnston is starting his resurgence. Segal is obviously aware of the same and today he has picked:

3.15 Newcastle - Almargo 7/1
3.50 Newcastle - Oriental Fox 14/1
4.15 Curragh - Alban Star 10/1, Alkasser 11/1

Tough day off punting and I'm banking on the ground staying Good or quicker at Newmarket. Can't predict the weather, so could blow out….

2.20 Newmarket - Zen Un Nita 3/1. La Cuesta ran behind Littlemissblakeney got marked by this horse so ZUN could be very good. No surprise of Parsley wins based on Hannon record in this.

2.55 Newmarket - Battalion is one of my favourite horses in training mainly as I've won when he has and avoided when lost. I'm convinced needs soft ground, so will leave again. I like Sheikhzayedroad 7/2. Goes on this ground. Just want Martin to get a decent start. Think headgear has sharpened him up too.

3.30 Newmarket - Do I give up on Garwood 7/2. Hmm. Not sure about this. Givens Hannons record in this and how well Professor ran at Ascot, maybe Indignant 14/1 ew work a pop.

4.05 Newmarket - I know Wedding Ring beat Manderley 11/4, but Manderley has decent form in the book. The 1k is not as strong as the 2k, but Euro Charlene and Ithimal have hardly been disgraced.

4.40 Newmarket - Seagull 6/5 looks set to turn tables with Rosehill Artist and we know Seagull goes well at Newmarket.

5.15 Newmarket - TOUGH. If Urban Dance reverts back to 3yr old form over C&D will go well. I'm not sure why Llanarmoon Lad was withdrawn last time out. I had £1k on him to win. Tanseeb 13/2 has form written all over him after Sea Shanty ran a blinder at Ascot. Almany is ahead of handicapper based on last run at Newmarket, but not sure what happened last time. Regulation 22/1 has to be worth a punt on his Meydan form

5.45 Newmarket - Not sure what happened to Midnite Angel. If returned to best would romp this off this mark, but can't have it. I really want Waveguide 3/1 to win, more because I like Lewis Walsh. Reckon one to watch.

2.05 Newcastle - Muthmir is interesting. Not a lump job by any means, but a lot of money for him. In fact staying away because Barron could also nail this with either Tarooq or Mississippi and Lack Lee might cause them issues. Me leave be…

2.40 Newcastle - Not sure if should start back 3yr olds against elders just yet, but Saayerr 9/4 looks good.

3.15 Newcastle - Another tough handicap. I'm not fully convinced Almargo ran that well at Ascot. Happy to be proved wrong, as the form is very good, but I'm on Dream Walker 7/1. In good nick, has won over C&D and the Chil The Kite form is just as good in my book. Has the Osin too.

3.50 Newcastle - Very hard. The top of the market looks pretty much right. In that case I'm going other end. Ardlui 28/1 would have got close to winning this off this mark today last year. Is in absolutely dire form, but could bounce back. More realistically though Angel Gabriel 6/1 should not be out of the places.

5.00 Newcastle - Desert Colours 11/2 bumped into a decent one last time. Still reckon is improvement to come.

3.05 Windsor - Border Legend 11/2 strong form, god mark.

3.40 Windsor - I've never been an Ocean Tempest 10/3 fan, but looks decent if ground not quick. Horses have won this with a penalty before.

4.10 Windsor - Stevens really likes Gamesome. Ashman Sam has a decent chance. So does Morache Music. They are in top 3, can't decide so leaving be.

4.15 Curragh - Fly To The Moon 16/1. If you look at Focus on Venice as a marker then Alkasser has 10lb to find on FTTM. Now clearly if you watch all the races, Alkasser looks class and is only this short as Segal backed him. This is hard though. Barkston Ash and Greek Caynon maybe too. Allow this....

4.50 Curragh - Cappella 11/8

5.45pm Update... Half time so a cheeky punt at Donny..

7.05 Donny - Amadeus Wolfe Tone 7/1 absolutely smashed that last race. Watch it. C&D winner and trainer bang in form...

7.40 Donny - Macs Superstar 8/1 knows round courses, his AW form is good. Worth ew

8.05 - High on Life 2/1 great chance...

Bets 27/06/2014

A gloomy morning. Hope the rain does not scupper everything I am about to take on....

3.35 Doncaster - I was ready to back Moohaarib 7/1 because he romped his last race. Botti says he will become group class too. So am a bit annoyed that the person who tipped up the 8/1 yesterday said that there is a good word for Knavery 15/8. If he/she genuinely has inside info then Knavery it is, but I'll cover Moo too.

Doncaster 5.20 - Eagle Rock 15/8 ran very well behind Totalize who is fancied for the Northumberland plate.

Curragh 6.55 - Third Dimension 11/2

Newcastle 7.10 - Marsh Daisy beat Eastern Belle and Lily Rules beat Eastern Belle. In my book that means Lily Rules 7/2 beats Pelerin. Lily Rules also advantage of winning here before. If a 4yr old wins this with 12lb extra I'll be amazed and that horse will be good. Annoyingly again this person has said is a good word for Pelerin 6/4!

Chester 7.20 - If Cossetted 15/8 is not held up too much then can take this. Has best form in book. I am worried that the Johnston nag will bolt off and not be caught but lets hope jockey instructions are strong.

Newcastle 7.45 - Robot Boy 9/2 looks good enough to go in again over 5f. Last year the low draw was a massive advantage, but interestingly and not sure if it's coincidence, but everything drawn high has turned blue on oddschecker! Bookie trap? I've never heard of Georgia Cox but if she is worth her 7lb claim then Asian Trader 11/1 not out of it. Magical Macey won this last year but thinks needs softer ground.

Newcastle 8.20 - Anderiego 13/8 pulled really far clear of 3rd place last time and hoping no more Circumvents in the race.

Chester 9.00 - Take a chance on Crafted 15/8 to be as good on turf, make all from low draw and win.

Newmarket 9.10 - Holley Shiftwell 3/1 can return to form after first run back

Newcastle 9.20 - Noble Asset 4/1 down in class to resume winning ways

Bets 26/06/2014

Terrible yesterday. I have an exam at midday, so can't punt until 3pm (ish). Until then...

2.10 Carlisle - Sunraider 5/2

Be back later

2.30pm update... Exam passed, horse lost. Urgh. Got a tip from a new person am following. 3.00pm Newcastle Great Park 8/1. Let's see what happens...

3.05pm update..Well FML! This guy is now my god. Boom....

3.30 Newcastle - Dubai Dynamo 6/1, but Dance and Dance has to win one day soon!

4.00 Newcastle - Probably the whiskey talking but Crackentorp 22/1

Wednesday 25 June 2014

Bets 25/06/2014

Agonisingly close to a treble yesterday. Always a good feeling to get a Johnston nag right as between him and AOB I must have lost thousands (excluding the £7k I won for Hurricane Higgins/Sir Graham Wade double two Glourious Goodwoods ago!)

Carlisle is very hard today, so will chuck some pennies at it....

Carlisle 3.00 - I've read a few "good words" about Bondi Beach Boy 10/3 and that's where all the money is going. It was 6/1 last night!!! If this was 6f I'd been keen on Hadaj, but think too short. Would love for old boy Tax Free to win, but would be heart betting. The two I like are Avon Breeze and Silvanus. Avon Breeze won this last year and would have won more easily if had not fluffed the start. Why it's more complicated is Hadaj beat AB over 5f and are now on similar marks. Hmmm. I think I'm tentatively on Silvanus 13/2 ew

Carlisle 4.10 - Not any easier. Sound Advice 12/1 good formlines and Toto Skyllachy 16/1 a decent C&D winner on this mark.

Carlisle 4.45 - Someone needs to help me with this. I can't understand why Dance King is 12/1. The form of the last race is littered with winners including Aryal yesterday. The front 3 in the market are all being backed and shortening so maybe they know something I don't....Cousin Knee also tempting and on that form Eltheeb could go close.

Shouldn't really bet on these two...

2.10 Salisbury - One Moment 3/1 has a comment in my tracker "will get black type". Hmm wish I had more notes than that....

3.45 Salisbury - Lead a Merry Dance 12/1 got merked by Sunrise Star. Want to see how good Sunrise is.

These three surely must win???

4.20 Salisbury - Be disappointing if Hymenaios 9/4 didn't frank form of last race

6.50 Kempton - Disegno 8/11 has solid form and can use experience to win

9.10 Bath  - Approaching Star's 8/11 maiden is one of the strongest maidens this year

5.00 update - shocking day. I'm chasing. 6.20 Kempton Messila Star 14/1 ew can cause an upset. Was flying home last time and the extra 1f will suit. I hope :)

Tuesday 24 June 2014

Bets 24/06/2014

I am probably going to stop betting in races C4 and below soon. Fairly obvious why....

2.30 Brighton - I want to be a Secret Millionaire 13/8. Fair Value was cruising for longer, but if he couldn't win under Hughes there I think SM must be better.

2.45 Beverley - Over the next 4 weeks in the run up to Goodwood MJ's horses are going to start coming into form. Aryal 5/1 ran a good race last time out and is now on a lower mark than has won over C&D before so let's hope can do the business today.

8.35 Newbury - My Spirit 15/8 won very easily last time and might go in again despite new mark. Moore rode Asyad last time so should know what to watch out for. Wahgah is tempting but on form with Wall of Sound, My Spirit wins.

Monday 23 June 2014

Bets 23/06/2014

Royal Ascot was as I hoped. 5 days of big profits. I'm obviously annoyed I was too hungover for Saturday as think could have really cleaned up. Segal landed a 16/1 in the first. I knew Arab Dawn was good in the second and like the other Stoute winners this week, lots of money behind the confidence, but opted for the place on Elidor. I've now made all my Derby '13 Antepost money back and some on Telescope. I was so hot on him last year and now injury is out the way, if he gets good ground he has another win on it's way. The owners and trainers of Sole Power opening said back Slade Power all week, but I didn't listen! Baccarat was in my tracker as a big handicap winner with a similar quote from Fahey back in April.. Also that Aetna form line has won me shed loads before, so was annoying didn't see it. And in the final race, sadly we lost Tiger Cliff, but Segal picked the winner.

The draw made a difference all week. It really really did. Actually that cost me Born in Bombay and Baccarat. Silly boy.

Right, waffling over. Back to average racing.....

Windsor 7.40 - Voyageofdiscover 6/4 certainly has a voyage in his last race. He got blocked about 10 times and was so unlucky. Can put that right today.

Windsor 8.10 - A competitive race if all perform to previous peak personal bests, especially Lincoln with that Muteela form. However the favourite, Polybius 11/10 looks like has been let in on a very tempting low handicap mark.

Thirsk 8.20 - Small each way bet on Smalljohn 12/1. Won last race well and hopefully still in good form. Has won here before and looks like has a good draw.

Bets 21/06/2014 - Royal Ascot Day 5

Barcelona. What a city. Does, however mean I’m not down with punting today. Will give it a try. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped:

2.30 Ascot – Richard Pankhurst 16/1
3.45 Ascot – Forgotten Voice 8/1
4.25 Ascot – Music Master 25/
5.00 Ascot – Rocky Ground 12/1, Glen Moss 20/1
5.35 Ascot – Pique Sous 13/2

Okay, here goes. Only doing half bets…

2.30 Ascot – Dick Whittington 3/1. Best form and RPRs
3.05 Ascot – Elidor 12/1
3.45 Ascot – I heart Telescope 5/2. Am worried about Dandino though.
4.25 Ascot – Aljamaaheer 9/2
5.00 Ascot – Seeking Magic 12/1
5.35 Ascot – Tiger Cliff 4/1

Friday 20 June 2014

Bets 20/06/2014 - Royal Ascot Day 4

Day 4 and I am happy to say it’s Jay Desai 3 – 0 Bookies. We were big on course on Cannock Chase and Leading Light. Had I gone on my hunch about the draw and picked Born in Bombay, would have been laughing. Either way a lot of placed horses meant money was safe.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up more today:

2.30 - Osaila 20/1, Sexy Legs 12/1
3.05 – Saxo Jack 10/1
3.45 – Eagle Top 12/1
4.25 – Kiyoshi 14/1
5.35 – Pastoral Player 25/1, Secret Art 40/1

I’m off to Barcelona this morning so time is short, but here goes…

2.30 Albany Stakes – So many unexposed decent looking two year olds. I probably would stick to proven class which is Patience Alexander 9/2 and Sunset Glow 5/1. Appelberry 33/1 might be one to pull a shocker! However, after looking at high draw advantage might be foolish not to back something drawn high?

3.05 Wolferton – Hmm. Sham Desai has been itching to back a Botti horse all Ascot. Edu Querido 100/1 is rated 106, 3lb lower than when didn’t run too badly in a Meydan handicap. Everything suggests a step up in trip is going to suit. A lot of these horses have been aimed for this race which makes it even harder. My view with these types of races is you going or horses running at Listed level or stepping up into. I find the ones stepping down from Group races are they are generally too high in the weights (clearly, unless they have come down a lot in the weights)

If you put Bold Sniper and Café Society in a rematch I’m convinced even at these weights Café Society 6/1 beats the Sniper. Although Sennockian Star is a C&D winner, not convinced is up to scratch at this level. I’ve looked through most of these and I’m struggling as could find a case for nearly all of them. Even tempted by Boomshackerlacker 40/1!

3.45 King Edward VII Stakes – I’m not having Adelaide. Sure I’ll regret it, but just can’t. Dylan Mouth is interesting, but doubt the Italian form is that good. Snow Sky had interrupted prep and not sure how good form is. I think Bunker 14/1 and Odeon 14/1 look big ew chances. The former ran very well in the Dante considering was comeback run. And Odeon sweated up a bit too much and needed quicker ground in the Dante. Their form in the Dante is the best on offer here, surely?

4.25 Coronation Stakes – A few of these come here without a seasonal prep run. My view, is good luck to them. I know the trainers aren’t mugs but must be a tough ask. All eyes will be on My Titania, but mine will be on Rizeena 15/2. She ran okay in the Guineas, but I have a strong hope she will run very, very well at a track that really suits her. After what AOB did with Bracelet, would not be overly surprised if Tapestry outran her price. She was favourite for the Guineas for a reason!

5.00 Queens Vase – Do we find next years Gold Cup winner here today? Montaly 14/1 is really interesting me. Has some very good form and excitingly by Yeats who we know all about. On paper Marzocco 9/4 will go close

5.35 Buckingham Palace – Woah hard, and short of time. Here goes. Santefision 22/1 good chance on last years race mark. Blessington 11/1 could be miles ahead of handicapper. I hope he is. Obviously Horsted Keynes and Russian Realm have huge chances if draw does not do them

Thursday 19 June 2014

Bets 19/06/2014 - Royal Ascot Day 3

Day 3 and it is very much Jay Desai 2 – 0 Bookies. When Field of Dream romped home followed by Chil The Kite I screamed very very loudly as it paid out £2k. With my £500 ew on Integral, a couple of Segal winners and Muteela just hanging on I took £5k. Booya.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped:
2.30 Ascot – To Be Determined 10/1
3.45 Ascot – Bright Approach 8/1
5.00 Ascot – Hunters Creek 22/1, Bilimbi 14/1
5.35 Ascot – Alex My Boy 14/1

I’m heading back to Ascot today, I think for a harder day of betting, but I’m not getting as messy as Tuesday….

2.30 Ascot – Norfolk Stakes – I tried to find something to beat The Great War Evs. I can’t. If you watch the way he won his races on the bridle then you will be very impressed. The fact that Ladbrokes are 8/11 suggests they have had the nod from the Ballydole Camp. 20/1 for the 2KG might be worth snapping up. To Be Determined could be another decent Ward sprinter. Was a suggestion is better than Hootenanny but this is a harder race. Mukhmal looked decent when beating Roudee as has to give weights and make ground from wide stall. Certainly no big bets in this one.

3.05 Ascot – Tercentary Stakes – Think this one is tricky. Ordinarily I go for the top rated horse, but I know Hughes thinks Windshear is Group Class and if Cannock Chase 11/4 can beat a Group Class horse then perhaps he is the one to beat.

3.45 Ascot - Ribblesdale – Inchilla got merked by Taghrooda in The Oaks, and would be incredible if was fully fit for this, so will pass over. Bright Approach has been tipped by Segal, so that is covered. Final Score is interesting but difficult to know how good the form is in Italy. Vazira 3/1 is a G3 winner already. In fact should have got closer to winning a G1 and pedigree says is bred to like fast ground. If this is the case and she has run like that in conditions does not like, she will be hard to beat.

4.25 Ascot – The Gold Cup – Tac De Boistron probably won’t run and is held by Altano on form. I think he could have won this last year if was given a better ride. 6/1 without Leading Light is tempting, but I really think Leading Light 11/8 has this one. Looked class in previous outings. Brown Panther worries me, but I think he might be better on soft.

5.00 Ascot - Britannia – I’ve not cracked the 3 year olds yet, so this is tough for me. Hors De Combat 12/1 looks decent. I think that last race is good and not sure Born in Bombay can turn the tables. Draw might screw him though. Blimbi 14/1 was one I backed heavily and suffered with. I still like him, but Segal has covered him so all good. At a big price Crowdmania 40/1 is tasty. I backed Brazos yesterday and he did outrun his price and this form ties in.

5.35 Ascot – King George – Ah bloody hell, another 3yr old handicap. FFS. No real founded opinion on this one. If Windshear 9/1 is group class then can take this, but Elite Army 8/1 looks decent and Zee Zeely 12/1 has very good form, just a shame Haggas not going so well anymore.

Wednesday 18 June 2014

Bets 18/06/2014 - Royal Ascot Day 2

The only problem with having a good day punting at Ascot is the hangover. I'm struggling today, so hope my judgement is not too merked. Very annoyed with myself, but damage is done. I'll be back fresh tomorrow...

2.30 Ascot - If Muwaary is the genuine favourite then Brazos 40/1 looks a massive price as was 4 lengths behind when conceding 12 pounds. He is a Group horse and after the last C&D win I think his price is silly.

3.05 Ascot - Segal has tipped Anthem Alexander 5/1. Seems to be a lot of money for it. I backed Hootenanny/Spanish Pipdream Double so obviously hoping for SP to win. I am really hanging so I just can't go through the rest of the field.

3.45 Ascot - Treve 8/11 is surely a class apart from this field but Segal has gone for The Fugue 9/1

4.25 Ascot - When I woke up this morning, still a bit drunk I put £500 e/w Integral 3/1. Sky Lantern is a bit "fat" and carries a penalty

5.00 Ascot - Abseil 5/1 has been backed from 25/1 two weeks ago. It's hard to know how good he is especially as didn't get to see Llanarmon Lad run last week, but I' sure it is good form. At bigger prices I think Short Queeze 14/1, Chil The Kite 16/1 and Field of Dream 28/1 all have good chances.

5.35 Ascot - Hmmm, maybe Muteela 8/1 and Majeyda 16/1

Tuesday 17 June 2014

Bets 17/06/2014 - Royal Ascot Day 1

Get in Secret Gesture. I thought I was going to lose £2k just like that but class eventually prevailed. Right, first day of Ascot. I will be by the Veuve Tent until the first race, writing numerous accumulator slips….
Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has gone for:
3.05 Ascot – Jungle Cat 25/1
3.45 Ascot – Es Que Love 33/1
5.00 Ascot – Sir Graham Wade 20/1, Another Cocktail 25/1
5.35 Ascot – Hootenanny 8/1

Right, time to break to bookies (I hope)… I just don’t know what AOB is going to do today. Might be worth covering a Verrazona/War Envoy/War Command combo. Also on Stats Verrazona/Kingman, but not
backing any of these is singles…

2.30 Ascot – Queen Anne Stakes – Confidence is oozing out of the Hannon camp. Bookies are running scared and I just hope Toronado Evs does the necessary damage. Hannon has won this with Paco Boy and Canford Cliffs and surely Toronado who 5lbs clear on ratings can take this. Soft Falling Rain is decent but as best on Tapeta not turf.

If you watch the Lockinage, Verrazano was switched and definitely ran on strongly without being given a hard time. I’m convinced he could have got closer and at least have beaten Tullius. Not sure he could have beaten Olympic Glory. OG and Toronado are pretty closely matched in my view but Hughes is saying he has got better and therefore can’t have Verrazano (argh).

Side Glance is good but surely not up to this standard although is a G1 winner. Glory Awaits has not really improved since last year so can’t see him involved. Never heard of Ansgar. MoK is not a G1 horse.
Producer is decent but Hughes doesn’t think he can beat Toronado but might sneak a place. Anodin beat OG last time out but convinced OG did not run to form.

3.05  Ascot – Coronation Stakes – I really think The Wow Signal 13/2 e/w is under the radar here. He recorded a RPR of 92 on debut. Frankel hit 95, Kingman 96 on debuts. Now, I’m not suggesting he will progress as well but let’s look through that form. He beat Doc Charm by 9 lengths easily. Doc Charm then went on to beat Blackfoot Brave by 6 lengths in next race. TWS beat Jungle Cat by 20 lengths, who then went on to beat two pretty decent Hannon horses in a decent Goodwood maiden; Sixty and Aledaid. Sixty went on to win a maiden next race too and Aledaid was beaten 3 lengths by Adaay who is a shorter price than the Wow Signal. John Quinn was bullish about TWS chances and when you look through the form and watch his debut you can see why. His horses are doing pretty well too.

Adaay did not win as comfortably as the RP comments suggest, Kool Kompnay only just held on to his last win against Toscanini who was interestingly beaten 2 lengths by Cappella Sansevero 10/1 who also races today. Ger Lyons says possibly best he has ever trained and Qatar Racing bought him last night. I think that shows the quality. Also they made most of that money back by selling Frankel’s first foal to Coolmore.
Portamento might be interesting at a price as beat Toomores half brother pretty easily. Both War Command and Power came here unbeaten and I just didn’t like the way he failed to take over Kool Kompany last time. Ground and a few other excuses or a typical AOB trap? The upshot is AOB is generally not performing well so I am going to stick with The Wow Signal

3.45 Ascot – King’s Stand Stakes – Sole Power beat Shea Shea in this in a thriller last year. The ground looks to be slightly slower than last year which means neither two are guaranteed the fast ground they crave. Both have won me shed loads of cash but this year a new sprint king will be crowned. It will be Hot Streak 9/2. He absolutely bolted up in the Temple Stakes and a lot of people think he will win well again today. Pearl Secret was 3rd to SS and SP and so the form holds after being beaten easily by Hot Streak.
I’m sure Guerre will be decent, but don’t think is up to scratch at this level yet and also did have a stone in hand when beat Maarek.

Ancil broke a the track record at Tampa Bay but has been in poor form since. Stepper Point 66/1 is a massive price considering how close he finished to the principles in the Palace House but not worth covering. Athough 14/1 and Medician Man 33/1 are also big prices looking at the Al Quoz Sprint in Meydan. Ordinarily I’d back one of these but I’m sticking to Hot Streak.

4.25 Ascot - St James Palace – Flip a coin? All the top pundits keep saying they should both be evens, but most are sitting on the fence, including Hughes. If you look at 2kG then Night of Thunder 5/2 wins this. Problem is Kingman is bloody good and will have improved again. Gosden put a sly comment out there about a spoiler. Can’t see it in Toomore even though he did beat a very good Great Gatsby but both were KO’d in the 2kG. War Command might be the one to do it. We’ve seen what AOB cheekpieces can do many times before. Ladbrokes are 13/2. Others are 9/1 at time of writing. Might be a clue? Outstrip is G1 Breeder turf winner so is a huge price and Yuften could be anything.
What makes this harder is I’m not sure if there will be any pace….

5.00 Ascot – Ascot StakesBallinderry Boy 8/1 has been targeted at this race. He has Osin 3lb onboard and he has won at Ascot before. The quicker ground will help him stay the distance. Perfect Heart has ground to make up on BB and real aim was Chester Cup

Last year’s Queens Vase was all about Leading Light, the next Gold Cup Winner, but Ray Ward 12/1 ran a blinding race and looked a stayer on his way. A combination of bad tracks and bad distances have seen that mark drop to 89. If he runs to the form he did in the Vase last year and stay the extra 4f he looked like staying in that race he could be nearly a stone ahead of the handicapper…
Suraj 12/1 was 4th in this a furlong out and did not have a clear run. After jinxing about he was pulled up so on paper looks like he was destroyed. He was not. He is 5lb lower and now trained by Henderson. Jumps trainers do very well in this. Must have a very, very, very good chance today.

5.35 Ascot – Windsor Castle – Ward says this about Hootenanny 8/1 so let’s go with it: “I think he will be running in one of the weaker two-year-old races, being a Listed race, so he can get the week off to a good start and leave everybody smiling.”

If Adaay runs wells earlier then Mind of Madness is worth backing.

Of the longshots, Prince Bonnaire 40/1 is one I will back. Reckon should have won last race easily and is going down the Fredick Engles route by looks of things. Coimmnader Pattern has had coupole outside tips, but Bailey is in dire form. Fuwairt 16/1 could make it a good day for Frankie.

Bets 16/06/2014

The race track has costs me big bucks in the last week which is not ideal before Ascot, but confident can turn things around. A decent scorecast and Kaymer's romp in the US Open made me £4k yesterday and I'm investing a chunk of that on....

7.50 Notts - Secret Gesture 11/8. One of the most consistent performers on paper in this race, recording 100+ RPR ratings. Is 6lb clear on ratings which at this distance is 3 lengths. The Varian horse that beat her last time is decent and Varian has been in rude rude health of late so was not shame. Her form is bay far the best and this represents a massive drop in class. There will be a LOT of disappointed people if she fails to win this....

2.45 Chantilly - Shamlaka 11/8

4.15 Donny - I know Secondo 9/1 is better than last race as that York race 2nd is good, and the Wokingham is target. Will need to win this to have a chance to get in....

5.20 Donny - Lets go for a Charlton double. Hiking 5/1 is related to Bated Breathe and if ground is fast enough could takes this

Bets 14/06/2014

Urgh Have to go out today so only a few races I can tackle, but not enough time to go into depth.

Segal has tipped Enobled, Trader Jack, Racy, Danzeno

Tried to look at big races…

2.20 Sandown – Brownsea Brink 12/1 back on better ground, who is a C&D winner backed up by a buoyant Hannon yard

2.30 Musselburgh – Robot Bot 5/1 tenativley based on Barkston Ash form

2.40 York – Sweet Lightening 14/1. I had a phat ew bet on Spas Dancer and nearly landed that. The reason was the form of the Hambleton Stakes. Spas Dancer has now gone up in weights but SW hasn’t and has won a C2H here at York over 10f before of 95. On 96 today and O’Meara still in good form! Fury worries
me

2.55 Sandown – G Force 9/4 could be decent

3.15 York – Pretty gutted when Sirius Prospect got beat by Dutch Rose at York last time so will go with Dutch Rose 9/2 who is 4/4 at York

3.35 Musselburgh – Bordelesscott 16/1 and Move In Time 10/1

3.50 York – Dazeno 5/1 looks Group Class. I backed Charles Molson 12/1 AP. Gamesome 16/1 is apparently an exceptional Dark Horse

4.15 Chester – Llanarmon Lad 3/1 should go very close if reproducing last two efforts. Ellison yard going well

4.25 York - Bishops Castle 7/1 has decent C&D form, current form and yard form

4.40 Sandown – Obsidian  13/8

Bets 13/06/2014

Back in the groove with a 7/1, 6/1 and 3/1 winner which put me slightly up. Was unlucky with that first 8/1 at Notts and not picking Eastern Belle, Joeys Destiny and Etaab was a bit annoying. Anyhow on to today:

2.00 York -Pres Rapide 10/11 decent form and was a decent debut to record RPR of 80. Quinn going well too.

2.20 Mussleb' - Desert Colours 11/2

2.30 York - Connecticut 7/4 looks on a winnable opening mark. Looked very professional when winning last race. Arab Comet in a wad ahead on mark too based on last race, but I'm stopping backing 3yr olds with penalties because has hurt me too many times. Farquhar is interesting but has been lumped up the weights.

3.15 Sandown - Token of Love Evs looks a very worthy favourite.

3.40 York - I love York handicaps, but this one is not easy. Smarty Socks, I think is too high in the weights and I've not heard of his jockey, so tentatively letting go despite a big luring price. Escape To Glory has good form next to name but Save The Bees did not help the form yesterday. Ryan Moore gave Dusky Queen 6/1 a peach last time over C&D and I reckon Dubai Hills 10/1 will be close there too

3.50 Sandown - Kastini 5/1 was cruising to beat Chain of Events last time but never quickened on soft ground. Will this time...

4.10 York - Hmm this one is harder. Love Island 11/4 ought to beat both Bondesire and Royal Rascal this time. Rocksilla could massively outrun price with Wall in form and looking at last race of last season is a chunk ahead of mark, but was very bad on first run back so will leave. Mar Mar could be ahead of mark based on results outside handicap, but if she front runs she will set the race up for Love Island and Misplaced Fortune 10/1 who looks a winner in the making of this mark (at last).

4.40 York - Probably won't get involved in this. May well see Moore bring up another treble on Phaenomena, but I know Tate thinks he has potential Northumberland Plate winner on his hands in Bin Singspiel 10/1

5.15 York - High Office 5/1 has to win a race like this, in this class on this mark at York very soon

9.05 Goodwood - Strategic Force 7/2 ready to progress up the ranks

Bets 12/06/2014

I took a pummeling yesterday. I don't remember a day that bad, financially, in a long time....

Nottingham 2.30 - Climaxfortackle 6/1 has ideal conditions again and ahead of mark

Nottingham 3.05 - Avonmore Star 7/1 can go close if gets a clean break

Newbury 3.25 - Jordan Princess 7/2 although beaten very easily by Taghrooda, is hard to ignore as Tag did it again to a beteer set of rivals next time

Yarmouth 3.50 - D'Avignon 9/2 might be better handicapped then Etaab. Although Etaab's maiden has Eastern Belle in it. Hmm

Nottingham 4.10 - Run with Pride 5/2 and Joey's Destiny have collateral form with Barkston Ash who represents a solid yardstick. Of these marks Run With Pride wins. Interestingly also has a G1 entry...

Newbury 4.30 - Maraayill 7/1 has the best form on show

Nottingham 5.15 - I spent ages trawling through formlines for Koliakhova 14/1 and I found something that ties back to Sandiva suggesting Kolia's rating should be 80. I might have got the maths wrong but let's see

Nottingham 5.45 - Time for an Audacious 66/1 bet. This horse came close to winning a decent C5H on a much higher mark. Was rated 86, now 58 in first time head gear and tongue tie. Could it be?

Leopardstown 7.20 - Along Came Casey Evs can double up in this race

Haydock 7.40 - Regiment 11/4 ahead of mark, decent C&D performance, has to go close.

Leopardstown 7.50 - Joyeuese 4/7

Haydock 8.10 - Old boy Oldjoesaid 15/2 is in good heart. Wish the handicapper will lower him a few lbs, but this looks like a race that will suit him and he had won year before

Haydock 8.40 - Save the Bees 15/2 on formline.

Bets 11/06/2014

My selections generally this year on the flat have either won, got close to winning or have come stone cold last. The latter outcome weirdly doesn't bother me as something has massively gone wrong. Hidden Gold was so free and mental yesterday, he had no chance.

3.10 Haydock - There has been so much money for Baarez 8/11 it's difficult to ignore. On paper though Beach Bar 3/1 looks better as that form behind Chatez is strong.

3.40 Haydock - I backed Multi Bene 11/2 last night thinking the ground would be good. It's now soft, which is annoying as Chosen Character is probably a better bet on this ground. But, I'm committed now.

4.00 Yarmouth - Foxy Forever 13/8 looked unlucky not to win last time out and the step up is likely to suit. Mission Approved looks decent out last years form. If Jiroft stays then 20/1 will look massive as was rated in 100's previously but not sure does.

4.40 Haydock - Pedigree suggests ground won't be an issue to Sea Meets Sky Evs and hoping not as the form is very strong although behind Arab Spring's form lies Jazz Master and Magic Hurricane, so lets not bank on SMS

5.20 Beverley - Laftah 8/11 ought to win this. Had zero luck in running last time but hopefully falls into place today

6.50 - I am banking on Double Up 6/5 to recoup any losses and some. Looks a decent bet.

8.20 Kempton - This goes against my AW betting as Dutch S 11/2 has no proven form here, but that Aertex race has thrown up a lot of winners and hoping Dutch S can be another.

8.40 Hamilton - I backed Classy Anne to win 9/1 2 races ago and missed out on a decent 5/2 last time. Only 4/6 today but ought to win again.

Bets 10/06/2014

No exciting racing today, but seeing as I am a house husband for the week it'd be rude not to take a break from Royal Ascot research World Cup punting, US Open research, gym, sunning on the balcony and this smooth arse 18yr old...Glenfiddich. It's good, very good.

3.55 Salisbury - The Blue Army are coming into form and today I like the look of Gold Hunter 9/2 ew. I reckon he won a good maiden and he was all over the place so was a decent effort. I'm taking on some decent unexposed horses in Seagull and Likelihood but at the price looks the value.

Bets 07/06/2014- The Derby

Boom. A fat 22/1 treble sorted me right out yesterday. I called 1,2,3,4 and 6 in the 3.20 handicap, so I feel good. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped 3 today:

3.15 Epsom – Monsieur Joe 16/1, Seeking Magic 14/1
4.00 Epsom – Fascinating Rock 16/1

I’m too hungover to bet a lot today L

1.35 Epsom – Flippant 7/1

4.00 Epsom - I have True Story @ 50/1 so I'm sticking with that. I reckon Australia might just prove his hype today tho. Ebanoran looks interesting...

4.50 Epsom - Stomachion 5/1

5.25 Epsom - Normal Equilibrium or Bondesire.

Right, back to bed,

Friday 6 June 2014

Bets 06/06/2014 - The Oaks

Every year I seem to have a wad of picks in the Oaks and appears to be no different this year. The doubles I have are True Story/Ithimal 170/1 and Marvellous/Australia 12/1. Inevitably I will choke again. Let’s see. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has picked three today:

2.10 Epsom – Gworn 16/1
4.00 Epsom – Tarfasha 7/1, Amazing Maria 25/1

Right, let’s make some dollar….

1.35 Epsom – Thistle Bird 3/1 is a favourite of mine. She won this last year although I wasn’t sure she would 3f out. She is top rated, a few have done the double and I hope she can too. None of the others have ridden at Epsom before so if you back any other horse, you’re basically taking a gamble that Thistle Bird won’t run to top mark, your horse will improve from current mark and will handle Epsom. I just hope she settles. Just The Judge has let me down too many times now and need to let go, but may annoy me today. The most interesting horse I think is Mango Diva 6/1. She romped a G3 last year and if Ryan stays well positioned on her she may well take this. Skybet are taking the favourite on. Titanbet are offering 5/1 so makes me think they know she won’t win?

2.10 Epsom – Soviet Rock would have been pick 1 from the race back in April over C&D but after winning at Lingfield is up in the weights. Might still have a chance. Air Pilot has arguably the best form with Clever Cookie and looks on a very tempting mark. Farraaj looks like an interesting handicapper, and think extra distance and hitting the go button sooner will help. Hi There should turn the tables with Soviet Rock on this mark, and looked unlucky in that Epsom race but is always the risk with hold ups at Epsom, but next time out thumped by Clever Cookie. Resurge has won this twice before and on a winning mark but looked naff last time out, although was first run back. Tres Coronas has been hiked up the weights now and probably wants it softer and similar for Sennockian Star. Charles Camion is very interesting. Ground now in favour, Spencer onboard and was looking good behind Kaka in penultimate race and has slipped down weights. Segal has picked Gworn. Not sure why, but sure the race will show me. Salutation decent form behind Yar but a flop at Epsom. Aussie Reigns solid handicap form in Meydan. Clon Brulee 10/1 decent form back on turf handicaps and is the one I’m picking. After this blurb about how pretty much everyone has a chance, SBS is hitting form, he won his last handicap turf race by a shed load more than on paper. Cruised into the lead and won easily with half a furlong left. Clearly no shoo in but very good each way chance in a very competitive field.

2.45 Epsom – Gregorian 5/2 won this last year and keen on chances again. Haggas quoted is a bit frightened of Gosden’s one. Penitent was second in this last year but ground might be too quick. Titanbet taking her on by offering 5/1 again. I’m making a note of these to see how well they do!

3.20 Epsom – Abseil 5/2 has been smashed in for the Royal Hunt Cup which suggests a win here is a formality. Vainglory is a decent C&D player but an old boy now. Fury in on a very very low mark now, but need to wait till he hits form. Haggas has been smashing them in so can’t be surprised if does win. Llanarmon Lad looks interesting and I’m not too bothered about draw when look at previous winning stalls. Red Avenger could be on a decent mark but not convinced by trip. Dance and Dance 10/1 is one of the unluckiest handicappers I know, but today everything is in place

4.00 Epsom – My notes read…Dazzling – “Oaks filly”, Ihtimal “10l UAE Oaks Winner”, Madame C – “very good”, Palace “best AOB filly last yr”. Segal tipped up Palace Antepost @ 25/1 and Ladbrokes are shortest on her today which is interesting. I also have Volume @ 25/1. Can’t remember why. Think Hughes wrote something positive about her in one of his columns. There are no trainer clues as all of them are bullish about their chances. Today I am with Tarfasha 7/1. She destroyed a G3 field of decent markers.

4.45 Epsom – Parbold is costing me bucks and I reckon Moore and hood will fix this one up as the Shifting Power form is rock solid. Problem is That is The Spirit Evs looks Group Class in the making

7.10 Goodwood – Steeping Out 15/8

I don’t think it’s an easy day today, but let’s see what happens

Thursday 5 June 2014

Bets 05/06/2014

The last day I'm gong to write I don't have time to research for a while....gardening leave - what a great concept.

I backed Hagree 12/1 8.30 Kempton last night. It's been hacked. Assume for the same reason I saw. Strong form and best Kempton efforts on paper.

Wednesday 4 June 2014

Bets 04/06/2014

Nice cheeky double yesterday. O’Meara vs Dascombe today! Not sure which way to go. Was hoping to lump on Remote, but that bet dead as ground went against. Not really had enough time to look today to lump…

2.50 Notts – Rozene 6/4
3.50 Notts – Fort Bastion 13/8
4.20 Notts – Bragging 11/10
6.00 Kempton – Winter Thunder 11/8
7.40 Ripon – Rural Celebration 11/8

8.10 Ripon – Bear Behind 7/2 will make all along with a few of them but hoping draw wins this

Tuesday 3 June 2014

Monday 2 June 2014

Bets 02/06/2014

No time to look today but few horses on my tracker:

2.50 Naas – Headgear could help Chicago Girl 8/1 fulfil her potential
4.30 Naas – Beach Belle 2/1 is Group Class

7.30 Windsor – Will take a chance with Rocky Creek 14/1
