Bets 31/07/2014 - Glorious Goodwood Day 3

What a week so far. On Friday, I hit 6 out of 7 in a 7 fold. The last leg failed, but the 6folds and 5folds paid out about £2.5k. Yesterday I nailed two 16/1 winners and 4 others and took another £5.2k….

Gutted about Principle Equation but Kingman and Highland Reel were very good. Hoping I don’t get stripped today….

2.05 Goodwood – Tough start today. MJ has 3 runners; Rainbow Rock 7/1, Lyn Valley 20/1, Insaany 20/1. Rainbow Rock has the right profile for this, Lyn Valley ran to a very high mark when winning at Goodwood so could easily bounce back and Insaany ran well two races ago. No idea who to back. Also Roseburg 5/1 could be a class apart in this, Madeed 8/1 holds the strongest form by a long way and Donny Rover 25/1 has an e/w shout on last run over distance and Arabian Comet from that race is running in the Lille Langtry later. I can’t commit to any of these as far too open, but if I did I’d back Roseburg who might just outclass the MJ crew

2.20 Galway – Alelchi Inois 4/7

2.25 Nottingham – Sulaalaat 4/9

2.35 Goodwood – Can’t see passed Ivawood 4/7

3.10 Goodwood – I know Brown Panther is my Achilles Heel and won this last year but Estimate 2/1 has to be the one to be on

3.40 Galway – Tested 10/11 is Group class. I worry about Sparrow 20/1 on betfair (will cover)

3.45 Goodwood – After Gwafa won by 19 lenghts, Stella Bellissima 7/1 went into the notebook as SB easily beat Gwafa in first race. Gosden has done his a few times this year too. Putting maiden winners straight into pattern class. I’m not fully sure Misunited is a write off though. The favourites could do well today.

4.15 Galway – Pink Hat 3/1

4.20 Goodwood – No clear formline like yesterday so shots in the dark. Hills in good form and Kodiva 14/1 has a G1 Entry and Nelsons Trick 25/1 could outrun price as on paper only slightly behind Thunder in Myheart based on Arethusa as a marker.

4.50 Goodwood – Not sure about this. Ifwecan great chance from draw and Velox form. Almargo, Royal Seal chances on form, Nakuti is well handicapped, as is Championship and Secret Hint, so staying away….

4.55 Galway – Darwins Fox 12/1, Purple Bay 16/1, Fergall 33/1

5.25 Goodwood – George Cinq 15/2

Wednesday 30 July 2014

Bets 30/07/2014 - Glorious Goodwood Day 2

Tough day for me yesterday rounded off by my 16/1 Piri being done in final part of race a Galway. MJ said Sennockian Star was best chance of race, Balding said Van Percy was his best chance of week, Hugo said Extremity was group class, Cotai Glory was second to Limato (a wonder horse), Misleading was the only debutant with a Group Entry and Es Que Love had solid form for a trainer who has been so close to winning this race many times. Also EQL was an ex-MJ horse, so all the clues were there!!!

1.55 Goodwood - MJ says Maid In Rio 6/4 is one of strongest challengers this week. A Group horse, clearly, with 10lb in hand. Walked last race and expect the same today. I think Ray Ward is rightly next in betting. Badly hampered then eased in last race. 6/1 with SkyBet who are offering refunds if MIR win, although is only £25....Lieu Miller and Brockwell have chances, but I'll stick with Maid in Rio. Maybe tricast material this race.

2.30 Goodwood - Just can't work out whether Somewhat 4/1 is decent or whether he ran a blinder in the Eclipse. Money suggests he is a good bet. Snow Sky 5/1 might be the danger.

3.05 Goodwood - Kingman 4/7. 3yr allowance wins this.

3.40 Goodwood - Highland Reel 11/10 won last race by 12lenghts. Could be decent.

4.15 Goodwood - Royal Razalma 16/1 has good form if follow the Fine Prince line through

4.25 Redcar - Brown Eyed Honey 5/2

4.50 Goodwood - will be so annoyed if Principle Equation 6/1 wins this. Had this one down in my tracker as back in first handicap. It was 16/1 last night!!! Looks so well handicapped based on other horses in all her races.

5.25 Goodwood - Liberty Jack 10/1 ahead of mark, Little Shamble 14/1 MJ

---

Galway 3.00 - Tandem 10/11
Galway 3.35 - Ballychorus 9/2
Galway 4.10 - Grey Monk 20/1
Galway 5.30 - Road To Riches 16/1, Golden Wonder 12/1

Tuesday 29 July 2014

Bets 29/07/2014 - Glorious Goodwood Day 1

After Ascot this is my second fav meeting of the year. Hannon/Hughes & Johnston generally make it a profitable week.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has a few intersting picks today:

1.55 Goodwood - Salutation 11/1, Tha'Ir 18/1
3.40 Goodwood - Big Thunder 12/1
6.40 Galway - Defining Year 10/1

Here goes....

1.55 Goowood - Really tough opener. Most of these are taking a step down in trip and I think most of them shouldn't be by the way they stay on. Conversely Sea Shanty 9/1 looks like he needs the step up in trip and it's the Hannon Hughes combo.

2.30 Goodwood - Beacon 10/11 looks decent

2.50 Beverley - Groor 6/4

3.05 Goodwood - If the ground was softer I would have gone with Greggy, but Toomore 2/1 was the juvey champ and can get back to winning ways today

3.40 Goodwood - I've not done well with staying races this year and nothing original when I say Havana Cooler 5/1

4.15 Goodwood - Not a race to bet on unless you know something. I only know experience counts for a lot and Winstanley 9/2 has a lot and has decent enough form to go close whilst Harbour Patrol 33/1 is one to watch.

4.50 Goodwood - Fleckerl 20/1 an interesting outsider in a tough race. Better off with Ogbourne Downs at weights and I see form with Heavy Metal and Tobacco Road which not too bad

5.20 - Tough. Can't pick between Long Awaited 14/1, Tidals Baby 12/1 and Valmina 22/1. Hmm maybe Slip Sliding Away 10/1 too. Urgh.

6.40 Galway - Piri Wango 16/1

Sunday 27 July 2014

Bets 27/07/2014

Big day yesterday with winners across the board. Had Horsted performed I'd be ecstatic, but am content nonetheless.

Ascot 3.05 - Glenard 8/1 ew. Not worried about step back in trip as has won at the distance before. Ran well last race here at Ascot and Hills in form so worth a pop. Hassle franked form. MJ is ready for Goodwood and Double Bluff 8/1 might be worth keeping onside.

Ascot 3.40 - Fyrecracker 7/1

Ascot 5.20 - Milly's Gift 7/1 is the strongest form line here by a long way. Does mean though that Ajjaadd 9/1 has a solid chance on these terms too. Segal says Robot Boy

Saturday 26 July 2014

Bets 26/07/2014

On hols and struggling for time.....

1.30 Ascot - Kodi Bear 2/1 form line but Disengo 5/1 of interest

2.05 Ascot - Hannon loves Osaila 7/4

2.40 Ascot - Moohaarib 5/1 is Group Class as noted last time when winning at 7/1 (backed into 3/1)

3.15 Ascot - I hope no more rain. Not enough time to dissect but I will keeping backing Horsted Keynes 8/1 till wins. Decent jockey change.

3.50 Ascot - Eagle Top 7/1 (Antepost). Ground ruined Telescope chance.

5.00 Ascot - Trip To Paris 2/1 formline

===

Only, looking at York for a mate (good luck)....

1.50 York - Cosmic Halo 10/1 e/w

2.20 York - Alejandro 10/1 e/w or Dutch Rose 5/1

2.55 York - Windhoek 11/4 looks group class now, very good last time.

3.30 York - A typically very difficult race to call. Hoof It 18/1 e/w could be massive, as could Goldream 12/1 e/w and Line of Reason 10/1 e/w. Muthmir is well fancied and is Zalty takes to York a big danger. Tough race.

4.40 York - Itlaaq 4/1

5.15 York - Pillar Box 7/1 could be well handicapped based on last run

===

2.45 Newmarket - Tryster 7/2 looks well handicapped

3.20 Newmarket - Desert BLossom 33/1?

3.55 Newmarket - Fast Track 11/2 owes me!

4.30 Newmarket - Fanciful Angel 5/2

Friday 25 July 2014

Bets 25/07/2014

Some decent winning favourites yesterday. Decent racing today and more tasty looking faves.

2.00 Thirsk - Mighty Zip Evs

2.10 Ascot - Malabar 4/5 has solid form

2.45 Ascot - Alpine Affair 2/1 is ahead of mark, but I hope Bronze Maquette is not too classy.

3.20 Ascot - All have a chance in this, but Maid in Rio 2/1 gets a hefty 3yr allowance and hope that makes the difference

3.55 Ascot - Euro Charline 10/11 has to be one to beat. Top rated, 3yr allowance and goes well at Ascot

4.30 Ascot - The Arab Spring form must be the best on show and Salutation 4/1 gets the vote. Charles Camoin is a danger along with Double Discount and Zain Eagle

5.00 Ascot - Atlantis Crossing 15/2 has a good chance. Rate very highly on AW and can turn into good turf form after last race.]

5.35 Newmarket - Dubai Hadeia 7/2 is seriously well handicapped based on that Salisbury race

6.10 Newmarket - Home of The Brave Evs looked decent on debut

6.40 Newmarket - Panda Spirit Evs - Stoute slapping them home

7.00 York - Swift Approval 2/1

7.30 York - Tasaday 6/4 top rated, big chance

7.40 Newmarket - Gwafa 10/11 god form

8.00 York - Bartack 4/1 strong form

8.10 Newmarket - Connecticut 11/10 held in good books

8.30 York - Innocently 6/1 or Leximgton Abbey 6/1

KEEP AN EYE ON DRAW READY FOR TOMORROW

Thursday 24 July 2014

Bets 24/07/2014

3.05 Sandown - Alonsoa Evs

3.40 Sandown - Alex Vino 6/4

4.15 Sandown - Conquerant 7/4

4.50 Sandown - Global Leader Evs

5.25 Leo - John F Kennedy 4/6

5.45 Donny - Country Drive 3/1

7.20 Donny - Munfallet 7/1

7.40 Lingfield - Maverick Wave 15/8

7.55 Donny - Etaab Evs

Bets 23/07/2014

No time again today. Will try to re-review evening races later:

2.50 Catterick – Proved You Wrong 12/1

3.10 Worcester – Chesterfield 7/4

4.10 Worcester – The Snappy Poet is interesting but might not have recovered from last race. Dazinski 6/1 put up a decent effort last time and will improve for step up in trip

4.00 Lingfield – Pabusar was backed in from 33/1 into 3/1 last night??? On old form very well handicapped so stable must know they have him back in shope.

7.20 Leicester - Bold Lass 2/1

7.45 Sandown - Provenance 7/4

8.20 Sandown – Let’s have a big Gambol 6/4

No time to look today, but had a few on shortlist, Mawaqeet, Teruntum Star, Jacob Black, Muhawalah, Heidis Delight, La Harvese, Lilly Junior, Manatee Bay, Tempuran. Desai Jnr goes with True Pleasure and Gotcha

Monday 21 July 2014

Bets 21/07/2014

Annoying when you post someone else's tips, back every single one of them and watch them all flop. Good one Desai Jnr! Thankfully I still have the gift of finding 14/1 winners in big handicaps! Booya. Everyone has bad days, but he genuinely is doing very well, but I won't post all off his picks going forward, just a few when I think they are worthy.

Cartmel 3.05 - The Good Guy 7/1. Won here before, gets cheekpieces which might sharpen the old boy up. If so, has a livley chance on a mark has won off before. In fact was a 119 hurdler. Desai Jnr says back I'll Be Frank 5/1

Ayr 3.20 - Taurus Twins 5/1 can defy penalty and a good C&D record

Ayr 3.50 - Toboggan Star 9/1 is well in if runs to mark last ran at Ayr. Top rated horse with 3yr allowance, and not only that, Desai Jnr has called this one out from a trainer form perspective so fingers crossed on this one!

Cartmel 5.15 - Dynamic Drive 5/1. Down in class, hampered last time, so compensation can await. Again Desai Jnr agrees with Trainer form!

Windsor 6.55 - Mythical Madness Evs ran a very good maiden (87 RPR). Appleby in good form and this a race Godolphin have won 4 times. Couple of the dangers non runners too.

Windsor 7.55 - Excited about this race. A load of chances, but that Millys Gift form is very strong and Tagula Night was badly hampered in that race. a C&D winner and with Tropics outrunning his price behind Slade Power, think Tagula Night 7/1 biggish EW could be decent

Beverley 8.15 - Desai Jnr says Kirkman 4/1

Beverley 8.45 - Rainbow Rock 15/8/. MJ's horse has been gelded and no doubt if that's done the trick will romp home. Check out form of first race, it's pretty solid.

Windsor 8.55 - Hopefully I'm shouting Yeah Baby 11/1 at end of today.

Sunday 20 July 2014

Bets 20/07/2014

Somehow came out okay yesterday, mainly as Segal landed me two each way trebles! But, a stark reminder to me, if you don't have time to research don't punt!

Tom Pricewise Segal has picked:

4.45 Curragh - Green Door 8/1

Desai Jnr Trainer picks as he cleaned up again yesterday...
2.10 Redcar - Baron Spikey 25/1
3.20 Newton Abbot - Ittraid 5/2
2.45 Curragh - Splashtop 5/1
5.15 Curragh - Irish Mint
2.35 Tipperary - Molly Connors 7/4
3.35 Tipperary - Enjoy Responsibly 20/1
4.05 Tipperary - Worldor 6/1

Just a couple from me:

3.45 Curragh - Hoping My Titania Evs fufils her potential

4.45 Curragh - Sir Maximilian 14/1 in good nick and Green Door 8/1. Yes 3yr olds don't do well in this handicap but when you are the top rated horse, different story.

Saturday 19 July 2014

Bets 19/07/2014

10/1, 11/1, 3/1 and 7/4 winners puts me back on the points track, but was very gutted about Fast Track. No more napping as I convinced myself to max bet it and so only made £20 yesterday despite big price winners! D'oh

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped:

Newmarket 1.50 - Llanarmon Lad 6/1
Market Rasen 3.30 - It's a Gimme 5/1
Newbury 3.50 - Fast Act 14/1, Bonds Girl 14/1

The weather is going to cause mayhem, again. I'm off to Lovebox so not enough time to look through cards, I'm not betting heavily and all very tentative.

1.50 Newmarket - Llanarmon Lad 6/1
2.25 Newmarket - Criteria 3/1
2.05 Newbury - Jordan Princess 9/1
3.40 Newmarket - Lady Horatia 4/1
3.45 Ripon - Gold Approach 6/1
5.20 Newmarket - Gold Trail 8/1
5.45 Curragh - Palace 20/1

Bets 18/07/2014

Dr Red Eye saved red eyes yesterday. Clearly still not a great day.

I've only napped once in 2 1/2 years and it was a 4/1 winner, but am reluctant to do so again as I'm not a tipster; just someone who wants to retire early, but here it is...

3.15 Haydock - Fast Track 11/4. Barron has had two winners in last 4 races including a 14/1 and Rozene who won for me the other day. But more importantly is from a formline that has made me $$$. Fast Track would have been closer to the winner if not hampered, but winner Extortionist won a G3 next, second Speed Hawk won last race easily, Peterkin, Royal Seal and Deeds Not Words all finished behind him, all won next time. Fast Track to riches!!!

Other races,

1.50 & 2.55 Nottingham – You’ll see a lot more of these in the future, but my bro aka Desai Jnr has an odd knack for backing winners purely on trainer form I doubted it for ages, but I have to confess I can’t anymore especially as he landed an 84/1 double yesterday and 40/1 treble 2 days ago. He doesn’t even look at the card. It’s nuts! So here are two of his today: Inniscatle Lad 13/2 & Le Laitier 9/2

3.05 Newbury - Cay Dancer 3/1 ran a blinder last race, more so because 1st and 2nd abolsultey bolted up next time, so Cay Dancer is likely to be a wad ahead of assessor too

3.30 Nottingham – Doctor Parkes 13/2 was a big bet last time out but withdrawn due to ground. Milly’s Gift has franked that Sandown race form so DP can take this. I am worried about Random Success 7/2 though.

3.40 Newbury - The market puzzles me, and must be missing something. Adaay beat Natural Order by 4 lengths on turf easily. Limato beat Natural Order by 2 lengths easily on AW. Adaay went on to finished 3 lengths behind The Wow Signal, but was actually eased down as given too much to do, so on all known form Adaay 2/1 is surely better value than Limato at Evs? Someone not telling me something? Okay just found something. "Limato, best 2yr old since Ceasar Beware" Never heard of him. Just looked him up. Decent! After all this, probably not worth a betting.

3.50 Haydock - Make Me Rich Again 11/1. Please. Bad start last time, but headgear could sort that out. Nearly won of this mark over 6f here. Good e/w chance.

4.45 Newbury - Johnston doesn't do too well here, but now that I write this, I'm certain Insaany will win. Border Legend looks to have a good chance, but I swear something dodgey is going on with Burano. Jimmy Fortune has given him 4 shocking rides in a row. Comments say, not a clear run, but eye catching headway, but Jimmy keeps putting him in crap positions! If there is something sneaky, then the Betfred Mile @ 40/1 might be the plot. Not betting on this race though.

6.50 Newmarket – Desai Jnr – Pennine Warrior 22/1. Personally think has no chance

7.40 Hamilton – Tough handicap. With a high draw and couple of decent races behind him, tentatively going with Yeeoow 7/1. If you do the maths based on the Donny race with Golden Steps, then Out Do beats Yeeoow, but I think Yeeoww was worse drawn that day, so sticking with Yeeeeeeeeoooooow!

8.10 Hamilton – Postponed 7/4 looks to have best form with step up in trip a huge plus.

8.25 Newmarket – Royal Battallion 16/1 – a 3yr Sea The Stars colt that cost 575k gns. Got to be worth a pop.

Thursday 17 July 2014

Bets 17/07/2014

High Church saved the day yesterday. A few for the afternoon. Will try and get more done from the beach, but no promises!

2.25 Leicester – Groor 2/1 may have won that Sandown maiden but got hampered. Ignore Ascot as was drawn 1. Tate in good form and is 2/2 with 2yr old handicaps at Leicester. Money pouring in so assume well fancied.

3.15 Hamilton – Almerzem 3/1 was cruising at Sandown is very very good race for this level. I’m not sure why is 3/1 based on his performance there and current mark. May be something I am missing!

4.35 Brighton – Welsh Inlet 9/2 was unlucky over C&D last time. Can make amends today.

11.15 am Update....

5.15 Hamilton – Paddy’s Rock 9/2 potentially ahead of mark as was closing over 7f quickly so step up in favour

8.00 Leapordstown – Sea’s Aria 9/2 well handicapped.

8.25 Epsom – Dr Red Eye 11/2. Was 9/1 last night! Dixon boys coming into form and I love a front running C&D winner at Epsom. May be a tussle for the lead, but back down to a mark of 79, hopefully conditions, Osin and headgear can turn fortunes around for DRE. Market thinks so.

8.40 Donny – Endless Credit 3/1 was cruising last time to the 2f pole. I was all over him too. Was leading near the 1f pole before being swarmed by horses and petering out. 1f down in trip, based on last year’s form has a big chance.

8.55 Epsom – Comanhero 8/11 short but can win off same mark again.

Wednesday 16 July 2014

Bets 16/07/2014

Ticking along nicely....but lots more poor racing today so no big bets.

2.10 Lingfield - Local Time 7/4. SBS loves these types of races and is start to fire

3.40 Lingfield - A decent(ish) race. Tenor is a top rated C&D winner but couple 3year olds better weighted. Fashion Line is good but another bum draw. High Time Too doesn't look good enough. I think this will, I hope this will go to a 3yr old. This race is in memory of Gay Kelleway's Dad so would in not be apt for Act of Charity to win? Yes, but think 2 are better. Knavery 4/1 - the form is there to see 92RPR on debut on AW. Snow Trouble 12/1 is a big danger. Clearly didn't like the soft ground at Goodwood but ran two very good race on AW previously.

4.10 Lingfield - Lead A Merry Dance 9/2 only 3/4 lenght behind a 76 rated horse last time out and Value 16/1 who 3lb lower than decent run over C&D

4.40 Lingfield - Clear Mind 6/4 ran a very good maiden. I'm guessing with the money flowing has improved since then. Form is good. Persicace 6/1 with Charlton in form could be the threat. Him and GB have a 50% SR here too.

6.10 Killy - Tarziyna 5/2

6.35 Sandown - A really poor bunch of 3yr olds on paper. You want one who has been running on from 7f or tackled further as 7f takes some getting at Sandown. Canova 8/1 in first time tongue and blinkers is the only one who looks like this. Ran two good races on AW over 1m, needed first fun back, didn't like soft in next and ran to mark in last race and just looked a bit distracted. Have notes saying will win a few races from Charlton,  so hoping everything all in place today

8.15 Sandown - High Church 5/1 looks well in on handicap debut, has been progressive and again think stiff finish will suit

Tuesday 15 July 2014

Bets 15/07/2014

4 more winners up yesterday, but more importantly for me, that included the first race which I banked on.

3.15 Bath - A decent race and I wish more were running. Bahamian Heights looks well handicapped but needs to bounce back from a poor first run. Jacobs Pillow also looks ahead of mark but maybe a bit difficult and odd that headgear comes off. So Speed Hawk 13/8 who is representing a very good handicap race from the weekend can take this. Think would have gone closer if drawn better.

3.45 Bath - Going to rely on George Baker to bring up the double on Dangerous Age 15/8, who takes big step down in class and back down to turf mark, 7lbs lower than AW mark. Has won on turf so no reason can't exploit the mark.

4.45 Bath - Have been waiting to back Artic Lynx for a few weeks now but keeps getting withdrawn. But I can't in this race. Secret Millionaire has made me decent bucks and won't get done by Powerful Wind again. However, Extrasolar 3/1 represents the Milly's Gift formline and she again could have won the ascot handicap Speed Hawk could have if drawn better. This form has to be the best formline. I hope it is.

Monday 14 July 2014

Bets 14/07/2014

Very good day on Saturday. An interesting lesson for me too. In the 14 races I attempted to crack,  in the 9 races I only nominated one horse in a race I had 11/1, 7/2, 5/2, 11/10, 10/1 winners, 2 places, 1 NR and 1 unplaced..... Think that's a pretty telling story....i.e. don't bet when you can't pick 1 horse!

No decent racing today, so most of this is half bets and pretty speculative except first race.

3.30 Ayr - Cosseted is a decent handicapper yardstick. The fact this is a C5 race suggest MJ wants to show Maracuja 6/4 how to win as a confidence boost as has got close a few times. Top rated in field as a 3year with a phat allowance means should take this.

5.50 Lingfield - Willow Creek 7/4 - Haggas 2yr olds decent this year and enough money to suggest fancied to win

6.20 Lingfield - Chesil Beach 17/2 won here on the AW which could be key to this race. It's one of those tracks where the proven are worth following. It's hard to know why flopped the next time out, but by beating a 72 rated horse I think much more easily than on paper could be a few pounds ahead especially if has improved with the stables form.

7.00 Windsor - Here's an interesting angle. Dark Angel's kids; Estidhkaar, Heavens Guest and Bronze Angel all won decent races on Saturday. In form Charlton has one more of DAs today; Star Fire 16/1

7.30 Windsor - Hearbreak Hero 10/11 was beaten by a very good horse last time who finished behind Ivawood at weekend! Anything that beats this should be kept in mind for future races and reckon Accra Beach, Skate, Able Mate are all dangers so no banker here.

7.20 Lingfield - Tyrsal 4/1 who bolted up last time, has a decent claim to overcome the penalty and looks like has best form on AW. I wonder whether Marmarus 14/1 who looks very well bred will finally improve from debut because is on a low mark. This might be the conditions he needs?

8.00 Windsor - Joys of Spring 13/2 back to 1m

8.20 Lingfield - Desai Jnr is hot on the trail of Charlton who has 3 winners on the bounce. He hit a massive Charlton Double on Saturday. Therefore Old Guard 10/11 might be the one to be on. Again lots of money for this one, so why not. Not sure if he has seen that Chamins has also won 3 on the bounce as he saddles Perfect Outcome 40/1!

8.30 Windsor - Back to that Cossetted formline - Tears of The Sun 9/4

Saturday 12 July 2014

Bets 12/07/2014

Despite a couple more winners am very unhappy with being told the ground was soft by officials and then good by the jockeys. Totally screwed up a lot of my bets. I would have ploughed Integral had I have known. Anyhow, let’s hope it’s not so weather messy today.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has gone for:

York 1.40 – Dusky Queen 8/1
Ascot 1.55 – Lancelot Du Lac 16/1
York 2.55 – Bold Sniper 6/1
Newmarket 3.15 – Georgian Bay 20/1, Absolutely So 8/1
Newmarket 3.50 – Noozhoh Canarias 7/1

Right, where to start? Ascot GF. Newmarket – who knows? If it was soft most of these would have been withdrawn but they have not. York GF. Too much racing. Argh

York 1.40 - Segal has gone for Dusky Queen 8/1. Back this one last time and got annoyed with Moore, but sure won't screw up again? If does a couple others I like. Navajo Chief 14/1 on a winnable mark, loves York and comes here of back of a C&D win. Royal Rascal 14/1. Ignore last run here as blinkers killed him. Loves York and could improve for step up in trip. Hit The Jackpot interesting but not sure drop in trip is answer and similar story for Awake My Soul 14/1 but has won at trip and is coming back for a G1 race!

Ascot 1.55 – Massive handicap. Looks like high drawn is place to be again which is really unhelpful because 5 of my 6 on shortlist are drawn highest!! Masamah 14/1 last years winner, Racy 20/1 and Barnet Fair 10/1 solid C&D winners get 123. Heard good things about Speed Hawk, but sticking with high draw.

Newmarket 2.05 – SBS have a nightmare season so far, but Golden Town 11/1 can help. Goes on softer, goes at Newmarket and rock solid form.

York 2.20 - I think Shwaiman needs further than this for optimum, but Waila 13/8 will hopefully love this trip. The form with Freedom is good and remember this horse was rated 110 and has now been dropped to 99 for this handicap

Ascot 2.30 – Guest of Honour 7/2

York 2.55 - All the rage for Bold Sniper 6/1 as tipped by Segal. Clever Cookie might find this too fast and massive hike in weights. I like Farraaj but tough at the weights. Educate might struggle in handicaps at this weight too. Queensberry Rules 12/1 looks a good bet. Backed him in big handicap at York last year. Got hampered and trapped and stayed on very well. All 3 of O'Meara horses have a chance, but he not in good form. Tarikhi is tempting, but more a place chance I reckon. Red Avenger 16/1 worth a nibble if produces best York form and the last Epsom race form.

Newmarket 2.40 – Gleneagles 5/2 is bred to win and stay further which will be important. Bolted up in a decent maiden. Ladbrokes are shortest price which a good AOB indicator.

Newmarket 3.15 – Absolutely So 8/1 good pick by Segal, but don’t discount Professor 9/1 who may have won the Wokingham if on the other side

York 3.30 - I'd love Kingsgate Native 11/4 to win, and he might. I've never heard of Take Cover but looks half decent. G Force is one to keep on side, but not sure just upto beating elders? Monsieur Joe 12/1 looks a decent each way bet. He got much closer to Extortionist in last race than Kingsgate Native did and I have a suspicion was conflict of interest in last race MJ ran with JOB riding against an AOB horse who won!

Ascot 3.40 – Felwah 13/8

Newmarket 3.50 - Assuming the ground will be worse than good, Slade Power, Noozzhoh Canarias, Hot Streak and Due Dilligence will all be in the mix. Noooozy has been given a massive write up by Soumillion, we know how good Hot Streak is on soft, but has to do it over extra furlong, Due D was behind Slade Power last time and can't see the reverse. Slade Power 5/2 is a better horse on softer ground and the owners Paddy Power are shortest price so I think that's a tip in itself. Think Hot Streak will be second.

York 4.05 - Ryan won last two renewals. Flaming Spear 11/10 very expensive so expect a winner

York 4.40 - Rhombus 7/1 if ridden more positively

Ascot 4.50 – Charles Camoin 10/1. Forget Epsom x2. Ran well in Spring Cup but more importantly C&D winner of higher mark and SK in form.

Bets 11/07/2014

Another wave of non runners, but a 10/3 and 4/1 winner meant no all lost. 3 big meetings today, so better crack on. Tom Pricewise Segal has picked 4 more today. He needs some winners today as he is burning holes in my punting account:

1.40 Newmarket - Nakuti 12/1
2.40 Newmarket - Purr Along 12/1
3.15 Newmarket - Remember 20/1, Charles Molson 12/1

Soft at Newmarket today. Keep an eye on Hot Streaks price tomorrow, although we know Slade Power loves soft too...

1.40 Newmarket - I have 4 on my shortlist and all are bottom end of market; Little Shambles, Nakuti, Hot Coffee and Our Queenie. The latter is not proven on soft, but has rock solid form at Newmarket. Little Shambles represents MJ but I'm certain this one does not like Newmarket or soft ground although is by Shamardal. Can't choose between Nakuti 7/1 and Hot Coffee 6/1, but maybe slight preference for Nakuti.

2.10 Newmarket - High Celebrity 5/6 ran an absolute blinding debut. Hope ground is no issue.

2.40 Newmarket - With the ground soft, Purr Along 12/1 has to be the pick. Murtagh said this horse was class before won a G3 in Ireland. Should have been closer to Integral at Ascot, but the ground can help turn the tables. Kiyoshi 16/1 is a lively outsider as Dubawi babies love soft

3.15 Newmarket - I had a pretty big e/w bet of Charles Molson 12/1 last time out and was maybe unlucky in running. Segal has tapped him up today. Golden Steps 7/1 took a step out of 3yr company and won well and could go in again as know handles soft. High on Life won be a massive pot last time, but I'm not sure 6f soft will have him a best. Hmm. Supplicant 25/1 has a potentially valuable 5lb claim.

4.25 Newmarket - Son of Dubawi, Razor Wind 9/4.

5.00 Newmarket - Assuming handles ground Glorious Empire 10/3

4.50 Ascot - Love a big Ascot handicap - Have a big shortlist though. Hmm. Noble Deed, Outer Space, Gabbiano, Slip Sliding Away, Trader Jack and Rebecca Romero. Slip Sliding Away lookd a good fave, in good form, Kirby onboard, but just think step up in class on this weight might catch him out. Noble Deed 20/1 is lightly raced, and if bounces back to form of Shergar handicap will have a very good chance. Outer Space ran pretty well behind Hot Streak at Ascot on Champions Day but not in good form so leave off. Gabbiano 10/1 always run well, but trainer not in great shape, Trader Jack 16/1 ran a cracker behind Milly's Gift at Sandown. I am tentatively saying best chace goes to Rebecca Romero 16/1. Loves Ascot and is in great nick, just hope draw does not scupper.

5.20 Ascot - Today is taking ages. Zerfaal 9/1 and Adhwaa 16/1

2.20 York - I don't rate Joyuese. I might be mad, but I prefer Ladies are Forever 4/1 and Emerald Star 8/1

2.55 York - One of best bets of day has to be Pres Rapide Evs. C&D winner in good form and except MJ horse little to worry about on paper

3.30 York - King Fete looks decent but Pearl Castle 11/1 is being targeted for Ebor so needs to win this. KF will improve but not sure is the best handicap mark to start. Pearl Castle is a solid C&D winner too and York ain't everyones cuppa T.

4.05 York - I love giving Lucas a last chance 25/1. Stone of Folca will blaze a trail and hoping might set up for Fitz Flyer 7/1 if does not sit too far back.

4.40 York - Barren Brook 15/2

2.05PM UPDATE>>>> Rain has changed everything. FFS! Everything I've bet on at Newmarket was based on GF. Jockeys are saying is GS verging on S now! ARGH!!

Big few days of racing. Excited. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost is in action today and he has gone for:

2.10 Newmarket - Belardo 6/1
3.15 Newmarket - Madeed 8/1

A lot of trainers in form and a lot of good formlines to pick through today, but I think the markets look right. Those at forefront are going to do well....

Newmarket 1.40 - Forever Now 3/1 was clipped from 20/1 into 16/1 for the Leger yesterday. Strong vibes across numerous outlets on this one. Very impressive last race. Watch it. On paper should be rated 103 (and that's harsh). I imagine will improve again today and just like Belle D'Or Gosden knows he has a rock solid horse and is just throwing him up in class to bag another prize. Gosden has won this 3 years in a row too! Windshear next best as ran a blinder at Ascot

Newmarket 2.10 - Segal has tipped Belardo. Muhaarar looks decent but have to assume wants soft ground as dodged Ascot. I don't think can use the Hootenanny form as Union Rose blew the form and Hootie is in league of own, miles ahead of all the runners, so cross out Mubtaghaa. The Great War was terrible at Ascot so can't back him. I like Mind of Madness, but trainer not in good form and yet to see how strong the Norfolk is. That leaves Jungle Cat, Anglic Lord and Ivawood. Angelic Lord had every chance and Dascombe not going great so I will strike off. Ivawood 3/1 looks decent. Once got going accelerated very quickly, but the Coventry, I reckon, is strong so Jungle Cat 13/2 gets backed too. Dougal nearly tempted me

Newmarket 2.40 - This race is not leaving the Stoute Yard. Arab Spring has been backed very well, but Hillstar 3/1 ain't no mug and I think wold have been much much closee to Telescope if was not blocked. He was cruising when everyone else was off the bridle pumping. It's decent handicap form versus class. The Moore choice and Ascot times suggest Arab Spring.

Newmarket 3.15 - Segal has tipped Madeed 8/1 and can see why as ran very well from that Ascot draw. I've not agreed with Segal in a long time, so hoping this is good! What About Carlo is good but not sure decent enough in this field after that rise. Loads of money for in form Haggas' Mange All, but I'm not sure what he has beaten. Mount Logan looks group class in the making but keener on Madeed.

Newmarket 3.40 - Hannon said Osaila 10/3 is best chance of the meeting. Matthew Tester in his Ascot review said good things about the Albany, so let's go with it although Sulaalaat has been smashed in betting.

Newmarket 4.25 - I spent 30mins looking at this and no founded answer. I can;t work out why Pretzel is favourite, but looks like another Gosden hotpot jumping grade. Interesting that this one has gone handicap route first though. Zarwaan has the best handicap form of a high weight in the Brittania. I was going to go in for Coultsy, but actually Anjaal 25/1 is 6lb better off and had a far worse draw last time, so worth a punt? Speculative.

Newmarket 5.30 - Doctor Parkes 5/1 finished 2nd in this last year off 6lb higher. Trainer in good nick, Moore onboard, horse is god nick, what's not to like? Ryan Moore rode behind Oh So Sassy last time so should know how to beat her. Arctic Lynx could outrun 20/1

Donny 3.05 - Burnt Sugar 10/11 all over this one

Donny 4.50 - Quest for More 10/3 I piled into this one last time, but was a NR.

Notts 4.35 - Sunrise Star 6/4

Wednesday 9 July 2014

Bets 09/07/2014

3.10 Yarmouth - Oh Star 8/15

3.40 Yarmouth - Lilly Junior 6/4 is on a stupidly low handicap debut mark especially after what Belle D'Or did in next race!

4.20 Lingfield - If taking to AW Secret Liaison 7/4

7.50 Kempton - Abaq Evs

3 really good days of racing coming up!!!!

Tuesday 8 July 2014

Bets 08/07/2014

3.30 Pontefract - Lextington Rose 4/1 ran 5 decent races at beginnning of career. Went downhill(ish) after. I Ran a decent race behind Deeds Not Words inbetween and I'm certain it was combo of quick ground and AW surfaces so I think did well to win last race. I'm praying for rain as reckon can win two on the bounce.

4.00 Pontefract - On the Thistle Bird form, Masarah comes out on top. But, again hoping for rain as will play into hands of Pavlosk 5/2. Looks capable at this level, and Stoute is in good form at the moment.

4.30 Pontefract - Boy in The Bar 4/1 in the only one who gets a hefty 3yr old allowance. Romped home last race over C&D and is definitely a wad ahead of handicapper. Just hope reproduces that effort.

5.00 Pontefract - Channon must be looking for a confidence boost for a decent Nancy from Nairobi. Bet he wasn't too happy when Cumani, Hills and Stoute all entered horses. Mizzou could be the biggest danger, but I'll stay away from this.

5.30 Pontefract - I have a note saying 'Si Sinor is one to follow in handicaps' - from the trainer. 4/1

6.40 Brighton - Haggas is slapping them home and Desai Jnr will no doubt be blindly backing Muradif. Oregon's Gift ha been back like can't lose, but I'm going for Guilty 4/1. Hannon/Hughes are both strong at Brighton, Guilty has posted the best performance so far and has enough experience now. Not a race I should bet in, I know, but too late :)

8.10 Brighton - Goddess of Gloom 9/2 ran a decent second half of a race behind a 96 and 82 rated horse. I think the 96 rated horse is more about low 80's, but that puts GOG ahead of assessor in my book esp with 5lb claim and last run better then on paper.

Monday 7 July 2014

Bets 07/07/2014

I've not caught up with the weekend racing in full yet. I have seen Sea The Moons romp though. My two big bets on Saturday were Seal of Approval and Roseburg. Between Velox and Roseburg I clawed back most of my losses but not all.

7.20 Windsor - Jiroft 25/1 will blaze a trail with a few including Powerful Wind, but hoping Arctic Lynx 18/1 who ran a blinder over C&D in April can take this with top claimer Cam

8.10 Ripon - Probably just one to keep an eye on as reckon 3 of these are ahead of assessor and could all be worth following. Telmeyd is Haggas who is smashing, Sunrise Star 2/1 who looks the furthest ahead of mark, Dutch Breeze who is a C&D winner.

8.30 Roscommon - Not a track I ever bet at, but when you see a G3 winner in a Listed race at 6/1 and JM is giving a good vibe you can't ignore it. Clearly 3 yr olds now warrant repsect with the weight allowance, but Ursa Major 6/1 ew.

Bets 05/07/2014

I went from boom to bullsh*t in two days. Cleared up two days ago and got whitewashed yesterday. No explanation either. Very annoying.

Tom Pricewise Segal has gone for:

2.40 Sandown - Lyn Valley
2.55 Haydock - Seal of Approval
3.30 Haydock - Quiz Mistress, Dashing Star
3.50 Sandown - Kingston Hill

I'm away this weekend so no full analysis but light touch. Couple strong bets though.

Sandown still good to firm….

1.30 Sandown – Hugo Palmer says Extremity 6/1 is a group horse and went someway to showing that on last turf race.

2.05 Sandown – Hmm. Steps is going to get held up and hit traffic problems again (maybe). Shamson 10/1 is going to make all against the rail and Kingsgative Native 15/2 will come wide and from the back to try and close him! Ha. Let’s see…another tough ace

2.40 Sandown – I back Velox 12/1 Antepost. That Abseil form is good. Russian Realm disappointed at Ascot an maybe wants softer ground. I bloody love Prince of Johanne 16/1, Brazos 12/1 and Gabrial Kaka 8/1. Too hard to call, but clearly lots of people think Velox has good shout as has halved in price

3.15 Sandown – Belle D’Or is going from a maiden to Listed? Queen Catrine 15/8 on paper must be the one to beat but Radiator also looks decent. Might not bet in this one.

3.50 – Night of Thunder 5/1

Haydock has turned soft….

1.45 Haydock – Dreams of Reality 5/1 was pretty badly hampered last time out and then was not given a hard time but still finished well. There’s a chance that this race will come to soon with a 7lb claim worth chancing.

2.20 Haydock – Chance on Captain Ramius 6/1 who has produced best effort on soft straight tracks. If Morache Music 13/2 gets a better passage than last time over C&D he could win this as was travelling with supreme ease before the gates closed on him

2.55 Haydock – This has Seal of Approval 7/2 written all over it. G1 winner in soft. Fantastic return in Yorkshire Cup. Fanshawe in great nick. Come on SOA!!!!

3.30 Haydock – This is tricky. 4 year olds have dominated this race and the 3 I shortlisted without realising that are all 4 year olds. I’ve already backed Havana Cooler 9/2 each way due to very good first run back at Ascot. That form behind Arab Spring will bring up winners for rest of year. I also have a sneaky feeling Sennockian Star 20/1 ran in a very good Ascot race too and that looks ready to step up in distance. Magic Hurricane 11/2 is of obvious interest as is a decent C&D winner but hoping the Ascot formlines are better indicators.

5.15 Haydock – Reckon Roseburg 6/4 has been let in lightly and conditions will suit

Friday 4 July 2014

Bets 04/07/2014

Mrs. Frangipanni could have won me £4,800. After every race I bet on brought up a winner (Faydhan 7/4 who looks phenomenal, Foxy Clarets 15/2, Alex My Boy 6/4 and Swiss Cross who drifted to 11/4), all I needed was her to round off the perfect day. Instead all I got back was "She wasn't herself", oh, but I did empty my betfair account onto laying her so still took home just over £1.8k. Kosika then perked me up by winning the last at 4/1.

I didn't bet on the 6 fold but feck me I would never have forgiven myself if Frangipanni rocked home too as it was 3,800/1.....and at the usual £10 e/w....

2.00 Sandown - This is a tough race. Tagula Night was given a very good ride by Moore last time. He has been put by by 6lb now and the form has worked out well. He has won off 82 before so might have a chance to add another C&D win. Lady Gibraltar is attracting money, but I'm going for an outsider as think it's tough; Trader Jack 33/1 ew. Only recently been moved to sprinting, but has decent form behind Intrinsic and Chil The Kite over longer. Granted a clear passage and Sandown's stiff finish on quick ground this might be what TJ needs?

3.25 Donny - Flawless Pink 5/6 has been hammered in the market and did look decent once got going. I am suprised has been dropped to 7f though. Hmm, probably just watch it. No Bet

3.45 Warwick - Don't Have It Then 7/2 routed his last set of opposition. Can do it again off this mark.

4.00 Donny - Outback Traveller 3/1 could, could go in again. Looks a tough 3 yr old.

4.10 Sandown - Noooooooooo. Air Pilot is a NR. However my concern in this race was Rydan 7/2 so now I can just back him. I think Reesha is a good thing and so the form stacks up.Vital Evidence and Rydan ran over the same distance here few weeks back and looking at the times and weight carried, Rydan should beat VE. Karraar looks dangerous on this mark, but doesn't seem to be improving.

4.35 Donny - Tied in with Rydan form, Reesha 7/4 has been hammered in betting, so hoping I've cottoned onto a good one.

Warwick 4.55 - This is such a pants race, but I kept a note of Golden Steps who routed a field at Yarmouth. In that field was Eleusis 5/4 who ran, I think, a very good debut after a poor start. Headgear and first run under belt, with Wall in good form, she should win this maiden. Everything else looks below average to poor.

Thursday 3 July 2014

Bets 03/07/2014

Will I learn not to bet in average racing? Probably not. But, boy, am I glad I laid out Poyle. He only needed the line to be 20 cm forward or back and he would have won on the bob. No harm done, but no bucks made. In the last race at Kempton I totally missed the 7lb claim for Tenor. Would have made it a better bet that Messila Star. That tip from Meade stable was wank and I'm not following this 'mole' anymore. Useless.

2.50 Haydock - Gosden has a phenomenal record in this type of race and there has been a shed load of money for Faydan 7/4

3.20 Haydock - There's always a chance that horses don't perform as well under a penalty but Foxy Clarets 15/2 won by 5 lengths and is only 3lb up with a claimer..? He was running in Listed class as a 2yr old and looks like the blinkers have unlocked the potential. However looking at the numbers there are a few here who could be even further ahead in Holy Angel and Eland Ally, but will chance FC.

3.50 Haydock - Epithet looks decent, but Johnston put in a good word for Diaz. No bet.

4.20 Haydock - If there were more than 4 runners in this I would have piled into Alex My Boy 6/4, but there aren't. However still best form on show.

7.10 Epsom - Swiss Cross 9/4 has no excuse, no real dangers in pretty much is favoured conditions

8.50 Epsom - Kosika 9/2 will blaze a trail and Forceful Appeal 8/1 will be fighting it out with him at end.

8.10 Newbury - Fran, Fran, Frangipanni 6/4 should win easily. Watch last race...

Wednesday 2 July 2014

Bets 02/07/2014

Another day of boringness and then on Friday and Saturday there is tooooo much to handle....

8.20 Kempton - Last night I was going to max bet Poyle Thomas at 11/4. I went half way to doing so on Betfair, but I am going to put a lay in running now because there are big dangers. Presto Volante 7/1 absolutely bolted up over C&D in April and Perrett has had a couple winners of late so could easily figure in this. Doubt Story Writer can turn tables with PV. Clerks Choice comes here fit from hurdling and nearly won off this mark over C&D earlier this year when would have needed the run. Spice Fair won pretty easily last time and no reason why Moore can't get him involved again.

However, I'm sticking with Poyle Thomas. Trainer in good nick. Course winner. Ahead of mark. Was very progressive last year until met softer ground and looks to have improved over the winter after very good return so will hopefully be even fitter! However at 7/4 now, not going in again.

8.50 Kempton - Shavansky 15/2 is old old old now, but I still think can win races of this level on this mark. Never had a chance in last race as no clear passage, but won previous race comfortably.

9.20 Kempton - The Martyn Meade stable shouted about Green Park the other day at 14/1 and it won. Today they are shouting about Zarliman 5/1. Will have had to improve, clearly, but let's see. My normal hat would say Gravitational 11/2 looks decent and I backed Messila Star 8/1 last time and with Doyle onboard is certainly not out of it. Let's see what Meade's boys know....

4.00pm update...May as well just go through card :)

6.50 Kempton - Almerzem 5/2 was travelling really well in last race. Will need the extra distance to show best I reckon.

7.30 Kempton - Rocket Ship 9/4 to use his experience to win this.

7.50 Kempton - Panda Spirit 4/7 short but should win

Tuesday 1 July 2014

Bets 01/07/2014

Another very boring day of punting and I know I should not bet, but....

2.15 Hamilton - Very rarely will I back a Johnston odds on horse. Surewecan looked to struggle a bit on the course at Ayr and although looks like the liekly winner on RPR ratings, Pipe Bomb 9/4 has form up to Listed class through last couple of races around Red Icon, so willing to take the fav on at these odds

3.00 Brighton - Bereka 5/2 should have won last race, but didn't have a clear run and step up will suit. That was on AW, but if you look at his debut has the likes of Almargo and Outbacker Traveller who have won decent races, especially the form last weekend.
