Bets 29/09/2012

Anyone reading this blog, searching for tips, should be aware I’m going through a stinking patch. I have no explanation. If it were always that easy we’d all be minted. Just have to suck it up. Plus, I'm not a tipster!! I just want to make some extra dollar and get back into VIP land!

5 favourites were landed yesterday, all, after significant money. Tom Segal is not leading up Pricewise today, so I’m not interested in following. I’ve never heard of Mel Cullinan but for those who bum a bit of Pricewise, they have gone for Fantastic Moon 1.55, Hoyam 2.25, Mijhaar and Talk About 3.40. If they win, they win, but I follow Tom Segal as opposed to Pricewise. My thoughts later…

9.00am update...

Interesting few jump contests today, but I’ll wait until after Champions Day to tuck in. Be good to let a few have their first run and see which stables are readied for the season ahead.

Newmarket 1.55 – Who has the best formline? Well after watching Havana Gold hack up and seeing the form of Cecil’s crew Al Waab 6/1 appeals the most. This will be a hot 2yr race and will unlock a few form questions around Dundonnell, Olympic Glory, Havana Gold, Tha’Ir and Tamayuz Start among others.

Newmarket 2.25 – Another tough one, but I really like Maureen and Hughes thinks a lot about her too.

Newmarket 3.00 – This is tough and is driven purely by emotion. Beauty Parlour 2/1.

Newmarket 3.40 – Well, I’m pleased to say ALL of my antepost bets are still in and not going anywhere else. Stevie Thunder 50/1 was 2nd in this last year. Bronze Angel 20/1 who was Segal’s antepost. Chil The Kite 14/1. 3 yr olds have a dire record so doesn’t bode well for the latter two. I also like Jack’s Revenge 18/1, but wow this is tough.

Newmarket 4.50 – Redact 20/1. The 7lb claimer is going to help here and if can repeat his last C&D performance in with a solid shout and is technically 15lb better off than Cape Classic who heads the market today.  Accession 20/1 is another with a good chance with form behind Mince and Born to Surprise

Newmarket 5.25 – Sun Central 8/1. I reckon will be having a large e/w on this. Sack of his last run and the form is HOT. Big big chance and I’ll be very surprised if does not go off around 4/1 mark.

I wouldn't ordinarily look at Chester but Newton wants my thoughts, so:

Chester 2.20 – The favourite has won last 5 renewals. I’m not touching, but back the fav

Chester 2.50 – Lady Ibrox 7/1 e/w. C&D winner over soft, and good draw.

Chester 3.30 – Kyllachy Star 10/1 e/w

Chester 4.40 – Deia Sunrise 6/1 e/w

Total Staked £590.00, Total Returned £1,042.38

Bets 28/09/2012

Not a good day yesterday - took a 3 ton breaking. Basseterre was salt in wounds as have backed him so many times before. Though Martyr was going to pop up at one point. Fair play to Gosden/Buick.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up:

Newmarket 1.45 - Irish History 12/1
Newmarket 2.55 - Winsili 8/1

No laptop after 9am so I need to have an earlier look today:

Newmarket 1.15 – Califante 7/2. Tentatively, but looks to have the best form and think 7f is spot on. Also this is a free bet courtesy of Bet365 having won last live race on C4. Nice.

Newmarket 1.45 – Thistle Bird 7/2 has been doing the business for me and think that formline is better than Dank, but that’s just me!

Newmarket 2.20 – GB bandwagon – Joviality 5/1.

Newmarket 2.55 – Struggle to see passed Certify 11/10. Godolphin love winning this. Also Amazonas without Certify. I won’t give up on this one till she wins me a decent prize!

Newmarket 4.00 – Artic Cosmos 9/1. Again another who I’ll back one more time. The GB streak may help.

Newmarket 4.35 – Wow wa wee wa. Oxford Charley 16/1 interesting with Buick onboard and has some decent formline. Fair Trade 66/1 is on a disgustingly low mark. Hughie Morrison is always one to watch in big handicaps and could be a good sign for Chil The Kite tomorrow. Clearly a lot of faith required for a bounce back, could be a solid bet (or not - it's a 29 runner race!)

Feel a Gosden Accumulator coming on...

Total Staked £673.79, Total Returned £387.44

£10.00 Certify 5/6 - WIN £17.50
£15.00 e/w Amazonas (w/o Certify) 7/1 - PLACED £36.00

Bets 27/09/2012

Had a couple of non-runners yesterday, and lost around £90. No biggie. The Cambridgeshire meeting kicks off at Newmarket today so is worth a gander.

Newmarket 2.00 – I shouldn’t but I will. The favourite is a warm favourite and maybe too short to back?. Zarooni’s juvies are immense and his record here is one to fear so Personable 16/1 is interesting. Soviet Rock 66/1 is I big price if you ignore last 2 furlongs (big ask to do), but Balding often bangs in the winners here. And Autun 12/1 for Cecil is tempting. I’m going to pick two and only put half bets on. Not sure which two though. Really shouldn’t punt though.

Newmarket 2.35 – Millers Wharf 14/1 looks a huge price. Was 20/1 last night as well, but the one I really want to be with is Royal Skies 8/1. Form looks solid and expecting a bold show from the front.

Newmarket 3.10 – Pricewise Segal has tipped up Banu Wu 14/1. I’m going to go with Sequence 7/1.

Newmarket 3.40 – No looking beyond Havana Gold for me 11/10

Newmarket 4.15 – Tom Segal has back Berling 14/1. Could be a fitting end to Dunlop’s career? This is tough though. I’ve not called very many staying races this year so should tread carefully. Out of the Godolphin bunch Cavalryman is clearly the class, but think will hit Lost in the Moment 7/2. Sod the tread careful comment. I want Martyr 33/1. Gave 7 lengths to Sir Graham Wade in last race after nearly 2 years out. Could come on for that.

Newmarket 4.50 – Boogie Shoes 6/1. Won this last year.

Newmarket 5.25 – Swan Song 5/1. Jwala formline.

Total Staked £591.00, Total Returned £256.63

£10.00 e/w Berling 14/1 - LOSE £0.00

Bets 26/09/2012

Man oh man. With 6 wins on Saturday and 2 places how I didn’t manage to land one e/w treble, I’ll have no idea. If I’d have put Segal’s bets in my treble I’d have another 7 grand! Argh! Anyway Goodwood looks interesting today.

Goodwood 3.10 – I’ll like the look of Goodwood Atlantis here 7/2. Might have a larger than normal each way bet on this, especially looking at the Sir Graham Wade form and the fact Hughes the Goodwood jockey to follow is onboard.

Goodwood 3.40 – Ektihaam is clearly the class horse in the race, but it worries me Varian’s record at Goodwood is 0/18. Primevere has solid consistent form, and drop back to Listed could be the turning point back to the winners enclosure. However I like stats, and any stable that is coming into form and has once this race 6 times before is worth following, especially when it’s Pisco Sour 9/1. Clearly not the same form as when 3yr old but has the ability to bounce back in these conditions. I hope.

Goodwood 4.15 – I’m hoping the Sir Graham Wade form the is the formline to be with. If it is then Cardinal Water 7/2 is worth another each way bet. The other one is the race who is very interesting and I think on a decent mark is Cubinata 12/1. Beckett is popping in the winners and if you look at form against Betterbetterbetter and Bonfire mark really isn’t that bad. All that said she has to have improved and absence doesn’t worry me too much. Ah pants. Just noticed 3yr olds have never won this and both my picks are 3 yr olds. Hmm.

Goodwood 4.50 – Tagula Night 10/1 has won twice over C&D on soft ground. Six Wives 10/1 is also worth a pop based on last time C&D run behind My Sharona

Total Staked £380.00, Total Returned £287.89

Bets 22/09/2012

Tom Pricewise Segal from the RacingPost has gone mental today, which means I need to punt £180 just because he says so...

Ayr 2.20 - An Saighdiur 11/1
Ayr 3.30  - Captain Ramius 33/1
Newbury 3.10 - Kirthill 7/1
Newbury 3.45 - Swiss Spirit 8/1
Newmarket 3.55 - Domination 12/1, Secret Tune 25/1

My thoughts after breaky...

9am update. I'm being uber cautious today. Too many big field handicaps, and I really don't have the desire to pick through. But, still got a handful on today..

Newbury 2.05 – If Artic Cosmos is fully fit I doubt much would beat him. He is after all the St. Leger winner from 2010. But with Cameron Highland and Lay Time in the race it’s too hard to call. Small field so I am bailing.

Newbury 2.35 – Moohaajim 10/3. Am trusting Reckless Abandon form to be the best on offer and that this horse can improve on only 3rd start.

Newbury 3.10 – Pivotman 33/1 could do something ridiculous here. Goodwood, York, Newmarket and Epsom are all tracks I’d forgive horses for flopping on. If he produces form he did last October over C&D 33/1 will look daft. I’m toying with Blue Surf, but think Expense Claim 8/1 has a very god shout here. Will love ground, has won over C&D and form with Michelangelo surely wins this at the weights. Cumani has won this race many times, but Kirthill who landed me a beautiful 14/1 last time out will go close but the weight puts me off a tad now.

Newbury 3.45 – Excelette 7/1 ran a blinder at Donny behind Sole Power who was never going to lose that race so is worth a pop. Swiss Spirit beat Lethal Force who beat Strong Suit though not sure that form is that good.

Ayr 2.50 – Royal Rascal 2/1. Top OR, best form, handles soft.

Ayr 3.30 – If Our Jonathan 11/1 wins the bookies will take a mullering. I hope he does. Ground, weight, draw all in favour. I’m not going to bother trying to suss this one out.

Ayr 4.40 – Opera Gal Evs

Newmarket 2.45 – Tamayuz Star Evs

Newmarket 3.20 – Qushchi cannot really be 8/1. Blinkers on, Queally onboard and just needs to produce form did in penultimate race.

Week 32: Update on Ban Jay Desai

Initial Pot: £1500.00. Total Staked: £48,865.59 Total Returned: £65,628.82  = Profit: £15,763.23

I would make a butters market trader. I am greedy, I have no discipline and I have emotional attachment all over the shot. This week has been everywhere. From the doldrums of guilt, self-doubt and self-pity across to cock assured attitude where I follow no man’s rules, and all the way up to copious glee. Thankfully these short emotional bursts only hold true during race time and aren’t rubbed off in to my daily life. Seriously, thankfully.

It’s been a while since I have jotted an update on this seemingly difficult mission. Nijinsky and Frankel remain the greatest of their generation as Camelot is masterstroked by the G-Dog team. Traffic and grumpy twats return to the streets of London post-Olympic ecstasy. The Arsenal putting in some decent efforts. I’m not making any decent ground way in hacking apart the bookies; in fact Willhill are letting me bet freely again. But, but, but Champions Day is looming and I’m slightly aroused (asexually – just to be clear) by the jumps season which is on the horizon.

Thought my be worth listing my open AP bets so I don’t forget to apply them to the P&L. Some of them, quite frankly, are RIDICULOUS, but the stupidity has been executed:
  • Mount Athos @16/1 Melbourne Cup
  • Joseph O'Brien @ 3/1 Top Irish Flat Jockey
  • Frankels Next Sibling To be named after Sir Henry Cecil @ 16/1
  • Sendmylovetorose @ 33/1 1000 Guineas
  • Mars @ 16/1 Epsom Derby
  • Long Run @ 10/1 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup
  • Victory Song 25/1 Epsom Derby
  • Newfangled 10/1  1000 Guineas
  • Dawn Approach 12/1 2000 Guineas
  • Offspring of Sea The Stars and Zarkava to win the Arc in 2014 100/1 – funny

I am taking a massive beating at the moment and have no excuses. Am dreading updating the P&L this week, but hey ho I am not giving up. However, after a dismal spell it seems Willhill are no longer limiting my bets. This means I've taken a massive step backwards! Argh.

Yarmouth 4.20 - Repeater is going up14lb after this, but I looked at the last handicap he ran in and he got mullered. He also essentially got a 13 length head start in his last race with weight allowance and I can never get Prescott right. I'd rather lump on Montaser 5/2 whose form looks much stronger. Don't think 8 lengths will stop this bad boy. With the form I'm in though, who knows.

6.30pm update... FFS. I am getting my arse whooped. Working out of town tonight so will smash into some Kempton. Will try to avoid chasing.

Kempton 6.40 - SBS rules the world here with juvies, but random punt on Soviet Dream 33/1

6.45pm update...I think I'm just destroying all credibility and going on a bender. What am I doing. REFOCUS TIME!

Kempton 7.10 - Tempest Fugit 11/10 looks to have strong form at this level.

Kempton 8.10 - A nice card! I really don't know what planet I'm on, but will back Pearl Mix 12/1, based on previous course from, despite a long absence, and Counterglow 20/1 who might bounce back, although looks best on turf. Probably should have stuck to Primeaval. Too late.

Another losing day yesterday. Woop. Was a tad gutted that Artistic Jewel just got beat but happy that avoided Sirius Prospect.

Sandown 4.00 - Will inevitably be somewhat tactical. Even though I never do well in these races can't help but think Tazahum 15/8 looks a good bet or is 9.5 lengths(Gabrial) behind Frankel really good form or is the Thistle Bird form better. Hmmm. Stick with Stoute.

Yarmouth 3.15 - Timepiece 4/6 surely can't get beat. Form behind Snow Fairy is solid as. Do I go big?

Yarmouth 3.50 - Anjaz form looks good.

Had a lull and a dip over the weekend with punting. Not too much went right. Will be a quiet week on punting side as I've been able to get away from getting involved in lower than Class 3 racing.

Tom Segal has tipped up Masterstroke for the Arc at 16/1, 12/1 generally. I've backed Masterstroke at 20/1 as my only AP bet for the Arc so far. Clearly wish I'd listened to Fats who told me to back Orfevre @ 16/1. He also wants me to plug www.fameandglory.co.uk, so I'll listen this time.

Yarmouth 4.00 - Sirius Prospect has let me down sooooo many times this year and today when I go against him he will not doubt win. This is also a small field and I've not really been great at predicting tactics. However I will stick with gut and go for Artistic Jewel 2/1 despite the penalty

Yarmouth 5.00 - r f/c Willie Wag Tail and Expert Fighter.

Total Staked £60.00, Total Returned £0.00

£30.00 Artistic Jewel 2/1 - PLACED £0.00

After Quick Wit won the first at Donny yesterday, I thought I might be in for a good day. I wasn't. It went from bad to worse and Camelot TC bid crumbled away too. As I said though dependant on how the day was going I might back Dawn Approach a bit more and that I did. Had over £300 on DA in the end which didn't save me from a loss but certainly boosted my mood.

I've never made wads of cash outside Britain but looks like some exciting Arc warm up races!

Longchamp 12.30 - Inxile 4/1

Lonchamp 1.30 - Orfevre 11/10. Could be as good as the money and Japanese think. Will be favourite for the Arc if wins today. Could have nabbed 16/1 only a few weeks ago! Fats did tell me to...

Bets 15/09/2012 - St Leger Festival Day 4

Argh. Just woke up. Time to quickly get Tom Segal bets on:

Doncaster 3.00 - Prodigality 7/1, Steps 16/1
Curragh 6.05 - Massiyn 12/1

Mine later...

12.30pm update...Sir Prancelot got absolutely smashed in the betting before the off and I was very tempted to get involved, but I didn’t. Discipline held, but to my detriment. I changed my punting strategy and hit accumulators with the favourites and although 4 won a few didn’t and that cost me all my accumulators. Had I have stuck with putting my longer shots in e/w folds I’d have been pleased to have had 10/1, 12/1, 14/1, 10/1 all placed. Ah, frustrating hindsight. Glad that the only bet of the week I’ve agreed on with Segal placed as well. Not understood his other bets and they all flopped. Today is clearly all about Camelot. Not a betting proposition, but a chance to rise from the shadow of Frankel.

Doncaster 1.50 – Today is going to be tough. Quick Wit’s form with Highland Colori nearly franked yesterday, Mabait looks well handicapped and has form behind Fulbright, Mia’s Boy is on a very low weight and has won here over C&D in CL2 races on higher weights, and Jake’s Destiny has form behind Chil The Kite last time at Donny, but I think Quick Wit 8/1 and Mia’s Boy 12/1 are the ones I’ll tap up.

Doncaster 2.25 – Dundonnell was my initial thought then Toronado but now I’ve eyed up Tha’ir. Urgh. I’m going Thai’r 3/1 without Dundonnell.

Doncaster 3.00 – Not sure about Segal’s Prodigality pick. Technically up 9lb without the claimer and Soohrab didn’t help the form line. On the other hand I think Steps is a solid place bet. May win, but it’s a huge handicap. Picabo could continue to progress, Captain Dunne a once high class sprinter could bounce back or Kaldoun Kingdom 12/1 in a decent draw decent form and weight could win? Or might Rex Imperator or Mass Rally both of who were unlucky at York? Hmm. Zero Money is the yardstick but really can’t be arsed to work it out today. Steps should be first choice and then probably Kaldoun Kingdom.

Doncaster 3.40 – Hartani is 5/1 for the Irish St. Leger today but was readily despatched by Ursa Major. Clearly nothing should beat Camelot but Ursa Major 13/2 without Camelot will be my bet.           With Gosden having such a strong record in the race it’d be daft not to back one of his. Which one though is really tough. Might flip a coin?

Doncaster 4.15 – I reckon Libranno will be used as a pace maker for Strong Suit 9/4 today.

Doncaster 4.50 – Glory Awaits 16/1 formline behind Fantastic Moon.

Doncaster 5.20 – Martin Chuzzlewit 9/2 to continue form from York. Nanton was behind him that day.

Chester 2.40 – Modun 6/4

Curragh 6.05 – Fame and Glory has let me down many times after his Gold Cup win, but at 5/2 and with Ladbrokes avoiding all the way I think is value in it.

Curragh 6.40 – I pray Dawn Approach 11/10 wins this. Depending on how the day is going, I might lump later. Serious reputation and form on stake here.

Bets 14/09/2012 - St Leger Festival Day 3

Another few winners yesterday but no huge movement on the P&L. They just keep me on a par and also keep my confidence up. The line up looks exciting today

Tom 'Pricewise' Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up two today:

Doncaster 1.50 - Nanton 14/1
Doncaster 2.20 - Repeater 14/1

My thoughts at lunchtime....
11.10am update...

Doncaster 1.15 – The ground might have a say in this. Molecomb Stakes winners record in this race is 1111, which points to Bungle IntheJungle 11/1, though Channon says needs to be ‘proper’ good ground. Not sure it will be. Sir Prancelot is top rated and drop to 5f will definitely help. Willhill are generally pretty accurate when they put their offers out. Today they’ve gone against Sir P, so I’ll follow suit. The one I want to be with is Hoyam 9/2. I like the Maureen form upto 5f and won on GS which others not fully proven on.

Doncaster 1.50 – For first time this week I’m with Segal. Old boy Nanton 14/1 is well handicapped to win this. Ran a blinder last time out and hopefully Lee will hit the go button sooner this time round. However, however, however I’ve finally caught up on a few videos and after watch Sir Graham Wade who has brought me home thousands of pounds is still the one to be on. Can’t say I’m not tempted by Western Prize 9/1 w/o SGW. I still think his form with Mount Athos is hot.

Doncaster 2.20 – I think this is tough. Times Up was beautifully ridden by Buick last time out whereas Saddlers Rock didn’t have good old Johnny onboard. Colour Vision has 4lb more to contend with compared to when he beat Saddler’s so I’ll rule out on that basis. I wouldn’t have picked Repeater, but Segal has gone against trend again. Only 1 3yr old and that was Saddler’s last year has won in the last decade. Argh. Right, I’m going slightly wide at hitting Masked Marvel 8/1. He would definitely prefer firmer ground, but I’ve not understood why he’s not been stepped up in trip after his demolition job in the St. Leger last year. The blinkers may well do the trick.

Doncaster 2.55 – No looking beyond Certify 13/8, especially as Sky Lantern franks that form.

Sandown 3.05 – Basseterre 3/1. After he beat Scatter Dice I followed him for a while and eventually profited 3rd time lucky. Reckon time to tuck in again down a couple of grades.

Doncaster 3.30 – Ashdan Evs. Reckon this will go off shorter.

Doncaster 4.05 – Johnny Castle 10/1 hasn’t been the same since left Gosden, but back to Donny and Buick up, so worth another try. However, Duke of Firenze 2/1 has form working out very very well. Reckon Fallon has this in the bag.

Doncaster 4.35 – Cool Macavity ran pretty close to Ahzeemah and Silvery Moon over C&D. Must have a very good chance and can ignore the York run.

Bets 13/09/2012 - St Leger Festival Day 2

A few winners yesterday, but reckon the £120 odd off failed accumulators brought me back down to earth. Won't have time to check till the weekend. The part of me that didn't want to bet in the small field was right; the long shot won. And I reckon Magic City really was bookie deceit. The amount of times I see comments like 'positive market vibes' or 'strong market support' would signal a big run in the RP comments, more often than not they shorten, but flop. I have no factual basis for this though! There are a few G'dog runners that I'm excited about today but won't get a chance to look at cards until later. In the meantime...

Tom 'Pricewise' Segal form the Racingpost has tipped up:

Doncaster 1.50 - Bonnie Brae 14/1

1.05pm update...Feck, didn't realise first race was so early...

Doncaster 1.15 – Tough opener. Should I avoid it. Probably. Will I? No. Annecdote 11/2 as the form looks very good and This is Nice 18/1, first time cheekpieces, consistent runner, ran well here before and interesting as that race had Regal Dan in, who won a C2 yesterday and mark looks ok. Am hoping for a headgear performance lift though!

Doncaster 1.50 – The class horse is Gamilati, but I’ll put her in a G’D double rather than back her. Interesting that Segal has gone against the trend with Bonnie Brae; 3 yr olds have won 9 out of last 10 renewals! Yesterday I didn’t think I’d do this but I’m going to back Sentaril 3/1. We saw yesterday with Born to Surprise how horses bounce back over preferred C&D. Is also top rated 3 year old after Gamilati.

Doncaster 2.20 – A number of these have really frustrated me when winning after I’d lost the faith in them! This is another tough one though. I’m not sure why Parliament Square is available at 7/1 looking at form against Reckless Abandon, so thank you. O’Bee won this last year as well. I was all ready to back The Gold Cheongsam 5/2 last time out and won’t shy away this time.

Doncaster 2.55 – I’ve put Kailani in the double with Gamilati as just don’t know what either will produce. I’ve just gone for Wild Coco 7/4 on the basis of the ground. Ambivalent looks decent but I have a soft spot for Wild Coco

Doncaster 4.05 – Hmm. Roker Park 25/1 and Victoire De Lyphar 25/1 both have C&D form and are below their previous best winning marks. With the fancied Prodigality being a NR might be worth a dab on Soohrab 8/1 as is fairly closely matched.

Doncaster 4.35 – Roll a dice and just about go Black Spirit 3/1

Total Staked £490.00, Total Returned £599.54

£30.00 Black Spirit 7/2 - WIN £135.00

Bets 12/09/2012 - St Leger Festival Day 1

More festival time! Love it! Oddly though I'm not fully prepped for this. Not sure which trainers, jockeys or horses are ones to watch out for at this meet. However, before I place a bet, I will!

Tom Pricewise Segal from the RacingPost has has one bet today:

Doncaster 3.05 - Valbchek 8/1

My thoughts in my early lunch break...

1.40pm...Later than planned lunch break...

Doncaster 2.00 – Red Avenger really demolished a class 5 race and 3rd who was 6 lengths behind went on to win. I’m not convinced though on the basis of the times. Very slow races considering on decent ground. The two that interest me are Regal Dan 4/1 and Shahdaroba 10/1. The former has decent form with several including The Taj and Bungle Inthejungle. The latter looked overpriced at 14/1 but with a NR only 10/1. Will have to overcome top weight but I think he has it in the tank to make 7f and it will suit. He is not too far behind Liber, Body and Soul, etc.

Doncaster 3.05 – Seagull has tipped Valbchek, but 3yr olds have a terrible record in this and not convinced by it, but it is Segal. Is Sole Power 9/4 a free gift? Should be too good. There are always a few interesting ones in races like this. Was pretty much nothing between Masamah, Pabusar and Confessional last time out. Masamah might be the better horse but tries a 3rd set of headgear in as many races and Ryan is 3% (8/233) at Donny so doesn’t bode well. Not fully convinced by Confessional, so that leaves Pabusar 12/1 (w/o the favourite). I know I shouldn’t but I can’t help back Roicead 18/1 who has mullered The Reaper and Nocturnal Affair previously on GF.

Doncaster 3.40 – If Eastward Ho 16/1 makes it into the line up I will get on. If not Hawaana 10/1

Doncaster 4.10 – Part of me doesn’t want to bet in this. I never come out of top in small fields as tactics play a huge part. Cai Shen didn’t really beat anything in last year’s race and although the Hannon factor is big at Donny, can’t back him. The question is, is Beaten Up back to his best when he trashed Al Kazeem by 4 lenghts over C&D, who btw thumped Meandre and Dunaden by 4 lengths next time out or has Swedish Sailor improved as much as Noble Mission. Haggas is no mug and has been banging in the winners but he’s not overly bullish about Beaten Up. Therefore I’m gona punt on Swedish Sailor 2/1 to maintain the 3yr old domination on this race

Doncaster 4.45 – All the money is for Magic City now only 7/1. Is this deceit by the bookies? I don’t want to miss out regardless, but this is really hard. I nearly opted for Alejandro, but not sure is a true galloper. Born To Surprise 6/1 and Strictly Silver 9/4 look the ones to be on

Doncaster 5.15 – Powerful Wind 25/1 has let me down a few times now, but he has the conditions to bounce right back from the front. Could get massively carried away with this. Not bothering…

Yesterday was great. A couple of big priced winners, a couple of smaller priced winners, a handful of places and an accumulator that paid out. Not sure what I was doing not backing Snow Fairy, but think I made £400 odd bob, so meh. I wanted to have a long hard look at the cards today but in between a lot of sparkling wine, mussels, beaches and sun I've not had a chance. Quick couple of punts though...

York 2.55 - Secret Witness 10/1. It's York so I have to go with a proven C&D winner towards the top end of ORs.

York 4.35 - Profile Star 33/1 and Heerat 7/1

Curragh 4.25 - All the money at the moment is for Harasiya as Segal has tipped him, but I prefer Sendmylovetorose 5/1

Cotching in Dinard in the high 20’s this weekend and it’s going to be a great day of racing as well. Couldn’t ask for more, except a few cheeky winners and maybe that life changing accumulator that has alluded me for nearly a decade now!

Tom Pricewise Segal from the RacingPost has tipped:

Haydock 3.25 - Gordon Lord Byron 25/1 and Wizz Kid 14/1
Haydock 4.00 - Sir Graham Wade 11/1
Ascot 4.15 - Hajras 16/1

Not looked through the cards yet, but interesting to see that he has taken on the top couple in the big sprint race. Means I’ll get better value on those if want them. My thoughts after a coffee and several choc croissants and maybe a kip…

Kempton 2.30 – Modun 5/1. 2-2 over C&D including this race last year. SBS record is mint here and in good form. Sagramor looks the biggest threat, but interesting that the highest OR horse is Arrigo 40/1.

Ascot 2.00 – Lovely Pass 14/1. Bottom in the market, but with trainer in form, form behind Tha’ir here at Ascot, looks like ground is in favour and first time pieces may sharpen up.

Ascot 2.35 – Will take another chance with Royal Aspiration 9/1. Will be annoyed with myself if I don’t! Had at a big price last time out and after 4f thought might just have bagged this. Others were pushing hard while he was still showing well.

Ascot 3.10 – Diala 7/1. First time hood will hopefully do the trick. Has been a beaten favourite 3 times on trot now and this is now a huge step down in class. Haggas won this last year.

Ascot 3.45 – Sirius Prospect 14/1 is interesting as has decent enough form at Group level. Will find it tough at top weight but does go well at Ascot. One a stonking 33/1 in Mehdi. 98 is a very lenient mark in my opinion but does have to bounce back to form.

Ascot 4.15 – 19 runners and 10 of them have all won money for me. No way I can bet on this. Segal has gone for Hajras.

Ascot 4.50 – Fitz Flyer 5/1. Visor has done the trick and likes it here. Short price for competitive race but just about backable

Haydock 1.45 – Havana Gold 2/1.

Haydock 2.15 – Hughes double, Long Awaited 6/1 or last year’s winner who romped this 13/2

Haydock 2.50 – Could be a good day for Charlton? Thistle Bird 9/4

Haydock 3.25 – Can’t weigh up between Bated Breath 7/2 and Strong Suit 6/1. Seem to be stuck between Jockey Hughes and Trainer Charlton.

Haydock 4.00 – A bit of me wants to back Blue Bajan 16/1 again so I will, but Sir Graham Wade does look a solid bet. I might back Tropical Beat 6/1 depending on how well I’m going today as Gosden does well in this race

Haydock 5.05 – Aazif 3/1. I won on Brockwell the other day so this franks form

Leopardstown 5.45 – Really this should go the way of one of the top 3, but just for the sake of it will back the 3year old trend on Light Heavy 50/1

Haydock 3.35 – Set The Trend 11/4. Down in class and should take some stopping. The OR agrees

Haydock 4.10 - Calaf 4/6

Haydock 4.40 – Wow. Tough. Qushchi is stepping down in class and has a decent 7lb claimer. Galleon looks way ahead of the handicapper and Ustura could be too. However Brockwell 5/1 who run 3 decent races here seeks a the hatrick. Beating Aazif in the last who is a decent sort. This is one of those when I shouldn’t bet. Too late. Whoops.

Salisbury 3.15 – Very interesting. El Manati won by 9 lengths last time out, without trying, eased at the end and still broke the course record. Dream Maker 18/1 w/o the favourite is def worth a punt. 6f good ground looks ideal.

Salisbury 3.45 – My Sharona 10/3 won nicely for me last time and it was a n easy win so claims again

Salisbury 4.20 - Chiberta King 5/6 should not lose this. Will run from the front and won’t be caught (I hope)

Goodwood. Good hunting ground. Johnston and Hughes had blinders at Glorious Goodwood. Do I follow the trend or not?

Goodwood 3.30 – I can’t work out why Normal Equilibrium is 9/4 after finishing 4.25 lengths behind Liber and Blackdown Spirit is 20/1 after finishing 2 lengths behind Liber, even with the change in weights. The latter was heavily eased in last and think step up will suit so 20/1 looks wrong? However more likely is Sejalaat 9/2. That form behind The GC is the strong.

Goodwood 4.05 – All the money is for Steeler and you can see why. But, but, but at 4/7 is it worth it when you consider Luhaif 10/1 behind Olympic Glory over C&D and Buick onboard. You have Hughes on Professor who was closely involved in a quad finish which broke the juvenile course record at Haydock on good ground. Jillnextdoor would also worry me if stepping up from effort behind Hototo. So in conclusion not lumping on Steeler despite the money and form. Too short. Might have yesterday at 10/11. Instead I’ll go for Luhaif 10/1

Goodwood 4.50 – Gassin Golf 2/1 has 3yr allowance so must go very close here. The money has also come pouring in.

Goodwood 5.15 – Time Medicean 5/1. When I woke up this morning was 10/1 so gutted missed that price, despite having a wide draw to contend with.

Have had a mental week at work hence the lack of punting. Not sure there is too much to get excited about this weekend but it's all in prep for The Leger, Champions Day and The Arc before the jumps seasons kicks off again!

Tom 'Pricewise' Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up:

Chester 3.05 - Imperial Djay 14/1 - I always back ID @ Chester so liking this, especially off this weight
Sandown 3.25 - Burke's Rock 14/1
Sandown 4.00 - Indian Jack 9/1, Valiant 7/1

My thoughts after a couple glasses of coffee....

9.00am update. Either the coffee has done nothing or the cards really are a bore today? Tempted to look the jumps, just of the boredom!

Chester 1.55 – Becky Lou 2/1. Although after a second glance not convinced, but I've now placed bet now. D'oh.

Chester 2.30 – A couple I like in this one. Both proven over this course. Communicator 9/2 won by 9l here last time out and Rosslyn Castle 8/1 has rock solid form against Gabrial the Great and Martin Chuzzlewit.

Chester 3.05 – This is not as easy as thought might be for Imperial Djay. There some serious chances in this race. I wonder of Bannock 10/1 can win this off top weight?

Chester 4.20 – Lexi’s Hero 5/1, Sohraah 14/1, Foxy Music 14/1 all shortlisted. Hmmm. Which one to cut off the list.

Sandown 3.25 – Falls of Lora 9/1 based on trainer form and course form. This is a hard race. Segal has gone Burkes Rock at big outside price

Sandown 4.00 – Late Telegraph 22/1 and Miblish 18/1 seem overpriced, but this is very very tough.

Market Rasen 4.45 – Underwritten 7/4

Market Rasen 5.20 – Piment D’Estruval 4/7
