Bets 29/04/2013

Blinding weekend. Segal is racking them up, but so am I! We had 11/1, 10/1, 9/2, 4/1, 4/1 and 5/2 winners. Nice. Shame only had the 4/1 * 5/2 accumulated though. The formline of Tartiflette worked a treat like I had hoped. In fact, it was a breeze and I'm hoping there will be some more. The bookies missed a couple of big formlines last year with I nailed Uppercut and Hurricane Higgins, so hopefully with be a couple more this season. BUT, but, but it's a SERIOUS investment in time!

No formlines today on show for me, but there's a couple of potentials:

Windsor 7.10 - Duke of Clarence 3/1. This was 5/1 this morning and realistically was an e/w bet rather than otn, but I've missed the prices now and willing to take on a short priced Gosden horse. I think! Hmm

Windsor 7.40 - Shed loads of interest in the favourite here, but again willing to take it on. Again maybe daft, but it's a big field so worth it. Perfect Delight's last run away from turf gives him a decent chance at 11/1 without the favourite, and did run well fresh last season. Star Date 22/1 could bounce back of this mark over these conditions.

Total Staked £120.00, Total Returned £120.00

£30.00 Duke of Clarence 3/1 - WIN £120.00
£15.00 e/w Perfect Delight 14/1 - LOSE £0.00

How I landed 4 winners yesterday and returned nothing from my accumulators is annoying me as I write. Conversely it excites me for the season ahead. Before Newmarket I will have updated my P&L. No more wedding excuses in the way!

I'm not overly enthralled about the racing today, so will just follow Tom Segal who is on a hot streak!

Huntingdon 5.05 - Triolo Dalene 5/2
Longchamp 2.40 - Pastorius 4/1

Total Staked £90.00, Total Returned £503.85

£30.00 Triolo D'Alene 9/4 - WIN £97.50
£30.00 Pastorius 4/1 - WIN £150.00
£15.00 e/w Accumulator N/A - WIN £256.35

I’m back in the game after nearly 3 weeks! I’ve dabbled over this time but in reality I’ve missed a whole lot of racing. NOT good. On a positive, Bali was immense and cock fighting was huge out there. A lot of breeders and heck of a lot of punters. Made good conversation…

Even though backed 5 horses in one of the Punchestown handicaps was glad to see a 25/1 winner. Saved the rest of my day. I chose not to punt on the rest of the days as the results were not too my understanding. I just don’t get Irish racing form. Typically missed out on Quevega, Hurricane and SDC, but am certain would have taken major losses on other races.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tapped up a few today:

Sandown 2.40 – Sire De Grugy 11/1
Sandown 3.50 – Away We Go 10/1, Muirhead 20/1

My late night thoughts are as follows:

Sandown 1.40 – Calculated Risk has surprised me since my beautiful double, but I’ve had my fun with him. Hoping little improvement left. I’m hoping Ptit Zig 7/2 fixing jumping up, goes on good ground and improves from a decent run in the Fred Winter. I hope I’m not missing a trick with Lac Sacre who is double the price of his stable mate even though thumped him by 15 lengths couple races ago

Sandown 2.05 – WIDE OPEN. Punt on Vendor 12/1 who has ideal conditions and will hopefully go well fresh again and Black Thunder 9/1 who was going well enough in the Coral Cup get a Harry allowance.

Leicester 3.55 – I rarely call out any bankers and if I do, they are normally Frankels, Caviars, Bucks or Sprinters but never any value in them. Aljamaaheer 6/4 will surely go off at short odds on. Has already won in Listed company and has nearly landed a couple of group races.

Punchestown 5.35 – Paddy Power are paying 5 places on this race. Fahamore 8/1 has formlines all over the place with Abbey Lane and Acapulco.

Will have a lookie at a few more tomorrow morning….

Midday update…A few more to the pot but honestly not much is getting me excited at the races today...

Ripon 2.20 – Bancnuanaheireann 12/1 has a horrendous set of letters to it’s name but looks like the value in the race with the ground looking like it’ll be good. Will be annoyed if Dubai Dynamo wins but not backing it.

Ripon 2.55 – I’m a huge fan of hurdlers switching discipline to flat especially early on in flat season. Last year it worked a treat so I’m looking at the King pair. Manyriverstocross 9/2 is the better hurdler and perhaps on a slightly better mark then Ardlui. I’m concerned he might not have tactical speed at the end but hopefully the ground will help.

Sandown 2.40 – Looks like a cracker. Not keen on these end of season tussles from a betting perspective so stick with Segal on SDG

Sandown 3.15 – Going to let this one go today

Sandown 3.50 – I’m really vexed Segal picked Away We Go 8/1 because the price has been battered. I was looking to back at 25/1 midweek! I had this one lined up for a few days after pulling a rabbit out the hat when I nailed Liberty Counsel @ 66/1. I think it’s decent form

Doncaster 7.45 – Another one with a bizarre name. Sheikhzayedroad 4/1 has decent form and can resume progress.

Haydock 7.30 – Felt had to have a bet in this as there’s a form line I’m tracking in here and the baton is with Tartiflette 8/1.

Total Staked £470.00, Total Returned £823.13

Be rude not to have a go today at Punchestown

Punchestown 4.20 – I might kick myself for not backing Rule The World but Champagne Fever 6/4 does look the business

Punchestown 4.55 – Naughty of me, because I have 5 in here I fancy, so really shouldn’t punt; Il Fenomeno 25/1, Benash 33/1, Abou Ben 33/1, Snap Tie 16/1 and Tennis Cap 10/1. I’m just going half bets, but not sure who on, as will no doubt otherwise be expensive!

Punchestown 5.30 – No bet, but we all heart Sprinter Sacre.

Punchestown 6.40 – Back in Focus is a stayer through and through and was going to be my punt for this. I just think Boston Bob 4/1 with first time tongue tie is the better horse over this distance and has slightly better form. E/w 3 places 4/1 you’d hope is a place no bet punt.

Punchestown 7.15 – I don’t know the historics of this race, but with so many unknowns, one that is familiar to me is O’Brien. Doubt he sends many here but of the horses that have run to date Draco 16/1 is defo the value. Think we’ll see the jockey go sooner this time and reverse form with Some Hawk.

Staked £195.00, Returned £324.38

How frustrating was Saturday! Place after place. 7/8 races placed! Argh, well at least I'm on the right track. A few randoms today and last few days left in Bali :(

Kempton 2.50 – Secret Talent 5/4 no longer a secret

Kempton 3.20 – Day In Day Out 6/1 I keep searching for the retirement accumulator

Windsor 6.00 – Pompeia 10/1 looks on a decent mark although a few of them do.

Wolves 7.20 – Morrison is running hot and Cosimo De Medici 12/1 has solid form at Wolves

Saturday 20 April 2013

Bets 20/04/2013

Short of time today, but a quick cheeky few punts. Segal has gone for Fill The Power 33/1 and Nuts n Bolts 16/1 in the National and Guarantee 7/1 and Educate 8/1 at Newbury

Thirsk 4.00 – Swinbank is still raking in the cash and Enihaa 16/1 looks worth a pop based on previous C&D form.

Ayr 2.40 – Sametegal 6/1 looks to be on a decentish mark after performance in Triumph

Ayr 3.15 – His Excellency 15/2 could well be well handicapped after all the graded races, but has been kept very busy

Ayr 3.50 - Scottish Grand National – Nothing at a huge price stands out, but I’ve gone for Always Right, Monsieur Cadou and Auroras Encore all between 14/1 and 16/1

Newbury 2.20 – Global Village 10/1

Newbury 2.55 – Agent Allison 15/2

Newbury 3.30 – Olympic Glory 8/11

Newbury 4.05 – Glorious Protector 11/2 and maybe Llaregyb 40/1

The girls took my money yesterday and their was no satisfactory return. I have no intention of going out out with the boys today. Early season form needs to play out. I know this. Need to behave.

Just a double on Toranado and Ghurair and also Tom Segal's picks in the 3.30 - The Cheka and Tickled Pink. The first two I'd expect to win but who knows how they've progressed over the winter? Certainly not me!

Bets 17/04/2013

1.45 Newmarket – Estifaaz

2.20 Newmarket – SP Favourite

2.55 Newmarket – Tamayuz Star 8/1

3.30 Newmarket – Birdman 16/1, Well Acquianted 6/1

Might get chance later to look at rest

8.50pm (bali time) update...

4.05 Newmarket - I'm on Nargys 5/1 for the fillies Guineas and I'm just hoping for a decent run, but I think she is good as Tester thinks Just the Judge is the one for a classic

4.40 Newmarket - Luhaif 10/1 never repaid my faith last year, but maybe today is the day? Looks to have matured well and on best day price is big.

5.15 Newmarket - Improvisation 15/8

5.45 Newmarket - The Taj 12/1

2.10 Chelts - Puffin Billy Evs

Well done Segal. Kept me alive at the weekend. At Kempton, my 5 shortlisted came 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and last. So I'll take an upbeat attitude away from that. At Donny I was a shambles. Looking back at it I picked horses who 'might' bounce back in the conditions which yes sometimes works but in form horses have worked out better for me. Remember this JD.

A few random races for me today:

Newcastle 5.00 - Swinbank has been slapping them in. Ebony Express 20/1 without the favourite was given no race last time out and looked like was making some decent enough headway before being jinxed all over the place to find a clear passage.

Newcastle 5.30 - Dick Bos 11/8 ought to make a mockery of this mark. (Ought to!). Just hope is ready to go!

Windsor 3.50 - I spent about 20minutes looking a random race at Kempton a few weeks agao and though Ree Rascal 12/1 might nab it, but thought I better not as fairly competitive. Typically it won at 12/1. I have a feeling might scrape this one so will go with it, but Sir Mike 10/1 has decent form last year if can go fresh.

Bets 13/04/2013

Really really quick write up.

Tom Pricewise Segal has tipped:

Doncaster 2.20 - Gabrial 4/1
Doncaster 3.30 - Move In Time 10/1, Yeeoow 14/1

Hopefully I'll find some time later to have a go, if not, GL!

12.40pm (Bali time) update...

2.20 Donny - Stick with Segal

2.55 Donny - Chance that Merchant of Dubai 20/1 will bounce back to form. Best handicapped horse in race, but Goldie reckons he'll need this run.

3.30 Donny - I can't seem to back Jack Dexter when he wins! think ground is too quick and surely can't win this off top weight. Hats off if he does! This needs a comb through but I don't have time. I reckon it's worth a chance on Colonel Mak 25/1 to repeat last year's victory.

2.30pm (Bali time) update...

4.05 Donny - I thought I'd found a peach with Albaqaa as RP estimated it to be 10/1. Gutted to find it was 8/1 yesterday but only 4/1 now. No value left but still worth a punt

4.40 Donny - I like Lewisham. Not sure what is doing hanging around in this company. Ought to hack up.

2.05 Kempton - The first 5 in the draw all ended up on my shortlist without draw being a factor. Gona go for the biggest price one Brave Echo 16/1 despite liking Glen Moss & Head of Steam nearly as much!

Bets 12/04/2013

This is written post event....

Even though SWG didn't win, I think I called the race out well. The form of SWG now doesn't look up to Group level. Had 3 quick bets but fairly blind based on what I know of form as no desire to scan through form in this weather!

Being lazy and pasting in pic so can update in P&L later.

Bets 10/04/2013

It's going to be hard for me to keep on top of form for the next 2 weeks whilst in Bali, but I'll try :)

3.10 Notts - Spirit Quartz Evs is miles ahead on OR, form and has had his warm up in Meydan and hopefully not too exhausted from overseas.

3.40 Notts - On OR Testosterone has this in the bag but he was pretty average last year. Dunlop reckons he is back in the game but it has to be a risk. Earth Amber may be underestimated based on form of Les Beaufs as has has won a G1 and a Listed race both by 4 lengths. However the two to focus on has to be Cavalerio, but more importantly Sir Graham Wade 5/4. I don't think SGW is a banker in this but I definately want to be on him today. Cavalerio could potentially so him as SGW has a penalty but the trainer is massively bullish about the progression of SWG so will stick with him

Bets 06/04/2013 - Grand National

I've not looked at the cards. I'm getting married today, so have an excuse.

I already have Cappa Bleu 25/1 Antepost.

I'm gona punt fairly blindly on:

  • Imperial Commander 16/1
  • Always Waining 33/1
  • Segal - Chicago Grey 14/1
  • Segal - Quiscover Fontaine 50/1

I probs won't be bloggin for a couple weeks now. Later....

Good luck

Bets 05/04/2013 - Aintree Day 2

No time to bet today so only Pricewise picks from Mr Tom Segal:

Aintree 2.30 - Sea of Thunder 11/1
Aintree 3.40 - Last Time D'Albain 25/1, Mister First 50/1

Thursday 4 April 2013

Bets 04/04/2013 - Aintree Day 1

Ah 2 days before the wedding at there is hot hot racing. No time to look in detail, but have to have a cheeky punt. Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has picked two today:

Aintree 2.00 – L’Unique 14/1
Aintree 4.15 – Anquetta 20/1

My picks. Short and punchy. I think I’m going to have a ‘mare with the no research angle, but here goes…

Aintree 2.00 – Irish Saint 3/1 to reverse form with Rolling Star on better ground. Has been targeted for this.

Aintree 2.30 – Nicholls again, with Silviniaco Conti 10/11. Miles clear on ratings too.

Aintree 3.05 – What a race. Wow. I heart so many of these. I still think Grandouet 4/1 has serious potential. Taking on The New One is brave though.

Aintree 4.15 – Astracad 10/1

Aintree 4.50 – Captain Conan 13/8

Monday 1 April 2013

Bets 01/04/2013

I’m starting to do the right things again, but still doing daft/risk taking things too, so I’m not really going anywhere with profits. I’m certainly not going to be banned by anyone anytime soon. One of the boys kindly pointed out I should change the site to allowjaydesai. Fair play. I’ve done a quick scan on P&L since I’ve last updated and it’s not pretty reading, but I’ll get it updated soon.

There are over 60 races today. No intention of hacking through them all. I have over 60 items on Wedding to do list for next Saturday so need to crack through that. Won’t stop me having a handful of cheeky punts though.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up a couple today in the Irish Grand National:

Fairyhouse 4.50: Carlingford Lough 14/1 and Home Farm 14/1

Wow, where to start:

I really want to smash into a couple at Fairyhouse, but I’ve just had a stinker in Ireland. Few of them on paper look the best, e.g. Tennis Cap, but they had tough races at Chelts, so I’m just swerving clear.

Fairyhouse 4.50 - The Irish National – Would be rude not to punt in this and although Segal has already punted on too, I’m keen on Panther Claw 12/1. Decent stable, decent enough jockey, decent form, likes the track, ground no problem, distance no issue. Won last time despite taking longest route round (twice). Good chance. And a totally totally wild punt on Liberty Counsel 66/1 based on old form on good ground.

Fakenham Treble – Harry Tricker, Penmore Mill, That’s The Deal (odds 4.32)

Newcastle 4.55 – Bygones of Brid 11/1 has a long absence to overcome but is by far the best in the field and is well handicapped. The favourite drops is trip which is odd so if McLintock who had a winner yesterday has got this one ready to 80% reckon still would win it.

Newcastle 5.25 – Blazing Diva 9/1 should not be this price in comparison to Dingo Bay. At the weights BD can reverse the form but Ryan Mania will need to get the jumping in fluent motion.

Argh, run out of time now, so can’t punt no more!
