Bets 30/01/2013

It's time to start thinking about Chelts. I've not had too many AP Bets - I know the perils now! A few races worth considering today:

Ludlow 1.40 - Little Dutch Girl 13/8. Form looks good, Hendo has won this race 2 times with 2 runners so must have a solid chance.

Ludlow 2.10 - I imagine Sustainability will be of warm order as form has been franked at this level. Tom Du Lys has solid hurdles from prior to joining Hendo so could easily figure and money is comng in for it. Heez A Cracker is also interesting. But, despite all of this I have to back Furrows 13/2.  Horse has been banned for last 40 days for not really trying last time out (well was the jockey as opposed to the horse) yet still only finished 12 lengths behind Vulcanite.

Ludlow 3.10 - Milo Milan 5/1. Merry King is one of my form lines to follow. In fact think he might be worth betting on at Chelts AP. Therefore Milo Milan who was only 5 lenghts behind State Benefit in a C1 last year gets the vote.

Ludlow 4.10 - Long shot of day is Priest Island 18/1. Looked a good horse in the making 2 years ago and not been seen since. If he is slightly better than is was (which is a big ask after this time off) then 18/1 is big.

Total Staked £200.00, Total Returned £75.00

This one disappeared too! Thankfully I keep saved copies (albeit not final version) for a couple weeks!!!...

Yesterday I returned to bad practice, back to mug punting. After watching Our Mick who would at least have placed unseat his rider during a coming together with the winner, I knew it was going to be one of those days. The New One should not have been beaten and the jockey blames himself. This was when I then put a lump on Oscar W. After watching him get beat I put 1/4g on Mr Watson and same on the place. Stupid punting, but it paid off. The chasing game is DANGEROUS>>>

I'm going to back the first four odds on Mullins horses today and then maybe have a look at the later races depending on how it is going...

2.30 race - 3 outsiders worth looking at are Chestnut Charlie 12/1, Cest La Mode 20/1 and Chino Valdes 20/1

Bets 26/01/2013

I've had to re-post this. Somehow got deleted?! Quite frankly, no incentive to repost it, but I'm staying true even in the lulls....

Tom 'Pricewise' Segal from the Racing Post has gone nuts today! 5 bets. Argh, hate it when he does:

Cheltenham 1.15 – Nadiya De La Vega 10/1
Cheltenham 2.25 – Quartz De Thaix 16/1
Leopardstown 2.45 – Hidden Cyclone 7/1
Leopardstown 3.20 – Ted Veale 10/1, Flying Light 16/1

Excited by today, but will miss all the action. My thoughts before 11am....
Cheltenham 12.10 – Interesting that before Irish Saint’s 6/4 last race connections suggested Chelts wasn’t on the agenda, but hope that doesn’t mean won’t take to Chelts. On paper looks the pick. Rolling Star’s form doesn’t stack up either does Knight For Pleasure. Henderson does say he loves Rolling Star so this is not a banker. Loving seeing Calculated Risk in the form of some of these! J

Cheltenham 12.40 – Rajdhani Express really took me by surprise last time and could easily shrug off the unlucky 13lb rise. The one who really catches my eye primarily because of the Rolling Aces form is Benny’s Mist 17/2 (w/o the fav). That form has been working out all season and the trainer has won this race 3 times before although does have another in the race.

Cheltenham 1.15 – This one is uber hard. Segal’s pick is not bad. NDLV runs well here, but surely must be a couple better handicapped. I didn’t really take to Our Mick 12/1 last year and not sure why but if he is fit the form is hot and the one I'm backing today. Sir Bold Brian looks mightily impressive too, but will stick with the two selections.

Cheltenham 1.50 – One of those where if I had £100k I would do it. I really would lump on Sprinter Sacre 1/5, but I don’t have it so I can’t. I freaking love this horse.

Cheltenham 2.25 – Think Segal has picked a good chance again with QDT.  Let’s get the record straight though. If Imperial Commander 5/1 is fit and on top game, he wins this.

Cheltenham 3.00 – I could be wrong about this one but I’ve been all over this horse for a while and when a trainer like TD reckons he’s the best he has ever had who am I to argue. The New One 10/11. Love it. Lookig at the card Coneygree and Whisper look very good horses, but I’m emotionally sucked in with TNO.

Cheltenham 3.35 – I’m throwing myself into dangerous territory here. I’m sucked in by Sprinter, The New One and now I have Oscar Whisky 2/1 (with Hills). Ladbrokes are Evs! He didn’t get 3 miles last time, but Henderson wouldn’t do this unless he believed and I believe. Some may argue Henderson is trying to monopolise and now Bucks is out run the risk with Oscar and you could argue the same for Kauto Stone who clearly is a better chaser. Quite frankly I’ll be a bit upset if Oscar loses this one.

Cheltenham 4.10 – Mr. Watson 11/4 could hose up if in same form as last race as looks well handicapped. Salders Risk w/o the fav 14/1 is definitely worth the risk to based on his JCB effort and freshness. Guess could argue His Excellency is better weighted than SR on this basis but he’s been chasing for a while now and might be a risk switched back.

Leopardstown 1.45 – Arvika Ligeonniere 8/13 solid.

Leopardstown 2.45 – Well done Segal, think you’ve picked another good chance with Hidden Cyclone but Canaly 10/1 is also interesting with the trainer’s record and handicap mark.

Leopardstown 3.20 – Feck. Tough. But at a quick glance there’s one formline that won me some bucks during the festive period and therefore I’m out to Hit The Headlines 16/1

Bets 25/01/2013

More placed selections yesterday and thus more minor losses but apart from the Thyestes Chase pretty happy with my selections in defeat. Looks like Chelts will be on tomorrow. Boom. But, Bob and Tidal are out. The interesting news today was that Dartnall has been told he can no longer train this horses on a beach in North Devon, which he has been doing for 18 odd years! – Will be interesting to see the impact on his horses, although a change of location may well help? Might keep an eye on that.

Kempton – Don’t really fancy anything. On paper the first few favourites look the likely winners so will just have one each way acc on Ericht, Pearl Swan & Peddlers.

Will save the bunce for a big day tomorrow!

Bets 24/01/2013

A few days off thanks to the white stuff. Meydan and Gowran Park to hopefully warm us up today. It’s freaking freezing.

Gowran Park 2.25 – Fats, Desai Jnr and OR all say Bog Warrior to beat Zaidpour. I’m not fully convinced and Zaidpour did win this last year, but I was a big Bog Warrior fan last year, despite never winning me any money and he won oh so easily last time out and if the handicapper has it right then it is Bog Warrior to beat Zaidpour.

Gowran Park 2.55 – Barneys Honour 2/1 won me a solid bet @ 4/1 a couple of weeks ago and pretty sure he did it in a canter. A steep rise and jockey change doesn’t make me overly comfortable but Elliot may have found the button to this horse

Gowran Park 3.25 – Outlaw Pete 7/1 also won me a solid bet @ 6/1 before Xmas and think has a decent chance again. Segal has tipped him today too. The Westerner Boy 7/1 looks well handicapped and jockey booking is interesting. Panther Claw 9/1 is Segal’s other bet but is tentative in my book as had a fairly tough race last time out and was only eased because closest contender who had every change fell close to home. Sole Witness 14/1 and Belle Brook 16/1 have enough in the formbook to go close here as doesn’t look the strongest field, but Outlaw Pete and The Westerner Boy have to be the ones to be on.

Meydan 2.30 – I’m only going with one horse a race and I may well p1$s myself off but Meydan will no doubt cost me a lot of money otherwise. Bay Willow has won many races here over C&D and hacked up last time out although was a very slow race time. The one I like is Jardim 12/1. His last two races over C&D say it all in similar class races.

Meydan 3.05 – Burano 7/1 (w/o the fav) might need this run but has run well fresh before. Backed Mushreq last time out and hope doesn’t win this as would be next punt. Masteroftherolls is the obvious favourite and likely winner hence punting without.

Meydan 3.40 – Jamr 5/2 notched up multiple wins over C&D and challenge will be mark but good chance.

Meydan 4.15 – Ballista is interesting but not proven here so have to pass over despite looking solid at home. Hitchens looks like the winner but again I fancy a long shot in Garbah 12/1 (w/o fav). Has hacked up over C&D, has a good draw and gets a decent sex allowance

Meydan 4.50 – Might be unwise to take on the hot favourite Sajjhaa as the form against Izzi Top is solid, but at odds on with a drop in 2 furlongs makes sense to take a chance on First City 7/1 who won this last year.

Meydan 5.25 – Big handicap, but Don’t Call Me is part of a formline that has won me 800 odd quid with Le Draakar and Tamaathul

Bets 19/01/2013

Next week’s racing is now going to be a BIG race weekend as it’s likely most who were due to run today will postpone their Cheltenham prep race till then. Thursday was a good day from an ego perspective but not fully financially. Couldn’t decide whether Master of the Sea was well handicapped but had an ink, and turned out he was but didn’t back it, had a sneaky suspicion Quito would bounce back at 16/1. He did but didn't back it. And at Meydan had two 2nd places and 2 wins despite pretty big fields so was a happy boy.  Had a lie in today as knew was no need to get onto any pricewise tips. There’s no major punting today which is fine. I can finally write up my end of year review! Well, maybe. Might smash COD all day!

Naas 2.10 – Aupcharlie 1/2 has the form in the book and is 6lb clear of OR with Tofino Bay surely the biggest danger but will look to double with something.

Naas 2.45 – Un Atout 2/5 has been backed for Chelts all morning which is usually a sign that he’ll oblige today. Think this means a double with Aupcharlie @ Evs, but no singles betting.

Meydan does not look as exciting as Thursday, in fact there is a lot of averageness floating about which is always a dangerous punting game as unknown quantities pop up left, right and centre. However I can’t help but have a punt and I can watch all previous videos on YouTube J

Meydan 2.30 – Earl of Carrick 7/4 has okay C&D form, is best on OR and just need to hope gets a good start. Cosgrave – sort him out.

Meydan 3.05 – Count Paris 12/1 got stuck in traffic drifted wide and was flashing home last time out. Decent chance with a better passage. Mark to Market 8/1 and a very bad start last time and that may have cost him the race. Runs of same mark. R f/c? Surely not!

Meydan 3.40 – Stalking Shadow is on an extremely dangerous mark but has been off the track a long time and hope Khor Dubai is not well in and fully on the decline. Instead Sand Stamp 5/1 has the best form over C&D here and he was flying home so the extra furlong should help

Meydan 4.15 – Really struggling with this one. Firestreak, Mutheeb and Noor Zabeel all big prices and catch my eye, but it’s the latter 16/1 who I’d hope can step back up to previous levels back over this C&D.

Meydan 4.50 – That Busker form is available again here so may as well stick with it and get on Habda 11/2. The step back up in distance is definitely in favour.

Meydan 5.25 - The last race is too hard to pick between the SBS horses. It really is. However, either someone has tipped up Flag Officer 11/4 or there is genuinely huge confidence behind him. Was 5/1 this morning. The market is not always right though, however the Sea Moon form ought to be the best on offer even though was a 6lb difference. Sea Moon got pretty close to Danedream and trashed Dunaden so hopefully the market is right today.

I have a free bet in the Kempton 1.45 race for picking the winner of last C4 live race so will have a look:

Kempton 1.45 – Ha what a rubbish race to have a free bet on. No point back a favourite. The long shot Dancing Welcome 16/1 has decent C&D form and is on a uber low mark so might, might be the one.

Total Staked £490.00, Total Returned £187.50
£30.00 Earl of Carrick 7/4 - WIN £82.50

Bets 17/01/2013

Segal has busted my tip for the betfair hurdle. Clearly My Tent Or Yours was going to be one, but doubts over his participation so not worth it and I missed the 10/1 too. I backed Punjabi last time out as at peak won a Champion Hurdle. Henderson reckons is in good nick which means 40/1 is a daft price. As a result of Segal tipping it, it is only available at 25/1. Boo. Anyway. Next. The weather is likely to KO plenty of racing in next few days which means we are going to get some mint races when planned runners will have to run in other races. Can’t wait. In the meantime Winny is still on today and so is Dubai! J

Wincanton 1.50 – I can’t work out whether the form of Master of the Sea now fully stacks up as Loose Chips was finally caught out at this level. The really interesting one has to be Minella Stars 6/1. What on earth was he doing in the International Hurdle on a mark of 111. If you stack that up he must be 20 odd pounds if not more ahead of the handicapper over hurdles and he won chases on 125. Very interesting but is a huge field and I’ve not looked at much of it

Wincanton 2.20 – The winner on paper has to be Definitely 7/2. Didn’t go well fresh last time out so has to be a doubt, but that’s included in the price.

Wincanton 4.20 – Shutthefrontdoor 1/3 to everything in this race. Need to double with a short price to make it worthwhile though.

Some decent races in Ireland but I’m going to just sit and observe as some of them could bounce back and it would annoy me, e.g. Quito DLR. I got uber lucky at Meydan last week when I would have taken a couple hundred pound hit until in the last race up pops a 33/1 winner. Bosh, but makes me wary about today.

Meydan 2.30 – Elderly Paradise 11/1. Trainer has solid record here and another Aussie horse – they have good record at this festival. A quick google search suggests is a decent horse http://www.inglis.com.au/news/item/elderly-paradise-dominant-in-macau-gold-cup

Meydan 3.05 – Laajooj 4/1 has a solid consistent record here. 10f definitely looks his trip

Meydan 4.15 – Apparently, and stress apparently has been a lot of hype about Devil’s Cut 17/2. Just concidently is another Aussie horse. I thought Tamaathul 6/1 had won his last race only to be bummed by 33/1 shot last time out. Drop in trip will help to see out race.

Meydan 5.25 – Longshot of the day comes again in the last race. Kidnapped 50/1. 2 years ago under Dettori this horse posted a decent effort in a better race. 11lb lower now and either not run over suitable C&D since or has genuinely flopped. Hope it’s the former. The horse In The Spotlight 7/2  is all the rage in India hacking up, winning Classics, all over the country. Has been backed in from 5/1 into 3/1 in places so could be top dollar. I unfortunately have another horse in this I heart due to the form lines; Ahzeemah 4/1 who has won some very decent races here and actually fairly easily.

Two wins and a place in Ireland on a Sunday. Blimey. Good result. Freaking snow. I just know it's going to blow the VC at the weekend. Would I bet on it? No.

Plumpton 1.10 - Think King who has a 39% strike rate here would be pretty upset if Valdez 4/7 lost this. Maybe didn't get up the hill @ Chelts, but penulimate race was franked by Softsong who was close in a Listed race behind Petit Robin

Plumpton 1.40 - Shes Humble 12/1 has won this race twice now. Clearly hit and miss but that's why the price is as is.

Plumpton 2.10 - Beware Chalk Pit 11/8 has a very odd name but a good chance to win this. Decent C&D form, just hope the 7lb rise is not too harsh. Has won off this mark before though.

Plumpton 3.10 - Midnight Sail 3/1 keeps getting beat by one horse. If you see who those horses are though - Easter Meteor, Phare Isle, Mister Hyde, Sir Du Bearn - all who have solid form, you'd think he'd be very unlucky to bump into another!

Plumpton 3.40 - Really shouldnt be punting in races like this and not sure why I am! Award Winner 9/1 was cruising home and think we step up in trip no problem. I don't get why he's drifted from 7/2 - 9/1 so something must be up. In that case a solid C&D winner Hazy Bay 13/2 is my alternative.

Bets 13/01/2013

Didn't lose too much yesterday because got 3 things spot on. Firstly The New One and Tetlami were bankers so was heavily wedged on although Tetlami gave me a scare. Next that Loose Chips and Pete The Feat had risen too far for this level. Finally totally ignore Segal's pick Quentin Collonges. I couldn't see why it could win so ignored it and found the winner in Rigadin. Had half a dozen places, but I went OTT on accumulators hence the negative balance.

Few races in Ireland. Still not up with the form, so hard to be confident, but punting in them is the only way I'll get to know it better! Sure there are other ways but this is how I choose to learn!

Navan 1.15 – A lot of unknowns but drawn to A Word Apart 12/1 who has pretty good flat form and looks like trip won’t be a problem. Very speculative.

Navan 1.45 – Barney’s Honour 4/1

Navan 2.15 – Casablanca Lily 13/2 will relish step up and baring no mistakes can sit behind the leaders and then power home. Slightly more of a hopeful punt is Hard To Swallow 8/1. Old form puts him as one to beat

Navan 2.45 – Alderwood 4/6 looks class apart from rest. Is a decent hurdler and form in book from last run.

I knew My Tent Or Yours was solid. Good lump job. He’s now been battered for the Betfair Hurdle. Should have got on at close to 10/1. Foolish. I do have him at 20/1 for the Supreme however. Looks like a mental day of racing today and I hope I can pull something out the bag and not take another Saturday battering. Two horses that keep flying up the handicap racing today ; Pete The Feat and Loose Chips. Can they go in again?

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped:
Kempton 2.40 – Buck Magic 12/1
Warwick 3.35 – Quentin Collonges 14/1

Hoping that Tetlami and The New One are bankers, but either way a lot good racing to enjoy.

Kempton 12.55 – Shouldn’t bet in small fields I know, but should be an easy win for Tetlami 4/7. Chief threat Kie ran a shocker here last time at Kempton and Escort’Men doesn’t look like has the class

Kempton 2.05 – Cruchain 8/1 won this last year and bounced back from average from to do that. 8lb lower this time so great chance to go in again.

Kempton 2.40 – Wow. Will be a good race. Loose Chips is up 12lb which will surely holt his progress even though he beat some decent horses. Jockey switch now might not be ideal either so will cross off. Oscar Dara doesn’t look that well treated and either does Bear’s Affair. I’m left with Lamb or Cod, Topolski and Araldur. I backed Araldur 14/1 couple days agao. Hope he still has some to give with chase mark being higher. The one the sponsors are keeping short is Lamb or Cod 16/1. Willhill are 9/1. I’ve tried to capitalise on that from line and it’s been hit and miss but generally pretty strong. Fats called out Secret Edge 40/1 who might be so low in weights now that could pop up, but faith is required and other one I like at a big price is Topolski 40/1. Also back down the weights and might be one for a place, but massively tentative.

Kempton 3.15 – Baile Anrai 10/1 is the one that interests me. Poor show last time, but if the talent he showed last year finds it’s way back, he is definitely the one to beat, but has to bounce bounce bounce.

Kempton 3.50 – Starluck 12/1 is a solid C&D performer and if you take his penultimate race and lower him 7lb he would have got pretty close to winning that race which was won by Petit Robin. Trainer close to winning 1/3 horses he sends here and is in decent enough form.

Warwick 1.15 – Kapga De Cerisy 5/1 has a few jumping issues, but 2m3f always seemed to far to step back will help curb tiredness and hopefully sharpen up jumping in back end of race. The form with Handrian’s Approach has worked out very very well.

Warwick 2.25 – Have been wanting to back The Package 4/1 all day yesterday but I didn’t realise it meant a switch back to hurdles. I still think the Hennessey form is by far the best form on show here and previous attempts were very far enough, so still stacks up in my mind. The other one with a chance is Holywell 6/1. Trustan Times form is decent for this level and the claim will help.

Warwick 3.00 – The New One 11/10 has been in my notebook for a while. Decent form with My Tent Or Yours on NHF and mighty impressive jumping performances too.

Warwick 3.35 – Segal has tipped up Quentin Collonges and not for the first time, I cannot see why. With it likely to be soft he has no noteworthy form of soft to take heed off. I’m going to be brave and not back it because clearly we have Pete The Fete, but has he beaten anything of worth? I think more importantly we have Bradley 13/2 who was just beaten by Monbeg Dude who we all know beat Teaforthree in the Welsh National and we also have Rigadin De Beauchene 7/1 whose form with Well Refreshed cannot be ignored.

Warwick 4.05 – This is surely one for a market check, but I followed Hobbs over NHF’s so Calusa Storm 10/1 is the one I’m backing blindly.

Yesterday was not going very well until the last race @ Meydan when Le Drakkar 33/1 popped up landing me nearly £650! Good times.

Sedgefield 12.40 – Hoping Counsel gets undone by the ground today and Three Kingdoms 2/1 transfers ability to jumping. Will handle conditions and with Ferguson on a 55% strike rate very hard to ignore.

Huntingdon 1.20 – I lost £200 on My Tent Or Yours and I still blame McCoy for that loss. I also lost out on £2.5k when Royal Guardsmen didn’t win last time out as was final leg in 4 fold. I still really rate My Tent or Yours. Got 8/13 last night. Doubt 4/7 will last much longer either although he does have a give a lot of weight around he should show his class.

Huntingdon 2.20 - On paper Brass Tax is the best of those who’ve tackled chasing. However Asaid 5/1 was the best hurdler on show and can transfer ability. With the large weight allowance and trainer form has a good shout and arguably better value than Brass Tax.

Sedgefield 2.40 – Uimhir A Seacht 4/6 will be hard to beat but skinny odds.

"I'm testing out something here so not expecting to land either of these and have gone off strategy." - Ha! So, all this time I've been burning dollar when could be smashing them in. It is worth calling out here that had I not bet with a bookie who does Best Price Guarantee I would have been looking at 10/1 and 11/1 and not 14/1 and 25/1 accumulated. Thankfully I did the right thing.

Nothing today fits the same bill as yesterday so back to normal hey?

Catterick 2.15 – This is not an easy one, but I’m drawn to Night In Milan 10/1 for some reason. I’m not sure which formline is the best but the Reveley factor here and current form just swings it for me.

Catterick 2.45 – Sea Lord 6/4. With the start of Meydan it’s great to see a decent flat horse taking on jumps. Ferguson is banging them in a the moment and the market is smashing into this one. It’s a huge field and a short price so not one to lay into.

Wolves 3.35 – Botti does well here, firing them in and Canary Wharf 5/1 returns back to C&D where ran very well

Wolves 4.35 – Another Botti runner who had solid record with debutants. Poet’s Prospect has decent enough pedigree too.

Might have a gander over Meydan during lunch break if get a chance!

3.00pm update...Only a quick scan of Dubai…

Meydan 3.05 – Akeed Wafi never got a chance to fulfil potential in UK and Raihe knocks in the winners here, but the one I like is proven on Tapeta and has beaten by a couple of decent horses in Kyrpton Factor and Barbeque Eddie on the same mark. Has a decent draw and Soumillion on-board; Ariete Arrollador 7/1. Montmorency 20/1 is also worth a punt. Goes well fresh and has a decent record on Tapeta on a good day.

Meydan 3.40 – I blindly backed most Aussie horse last year and did pretty well out of it. Draw looks hard but otherwise Benjis Empire 8/1 is the blind punt. The sensible punt is Addictive Dream 6/1 who won twice here last year and hosed up in this race last year. Hope handles the rise in weights.

Meydan 4.15 – Another Aussie Horse Mushreq 10/1. Won races at Listed level, so decent chance here.

Meydan 6.00 – Two outside picks for last race of day. Le Drakkar 33/1 and Jaasoos 25/1. Both have decent C&D form and on lower marks than last year.

Even though didn't bet on Groove On or Same Difference was good to call them out. Obviously annoying I didn't but that was my call. I finally managed to update my P&L with Bet365, Ladbrokes, Totesport, Betfred and Skybet. Still have Willhill, Betfair, 888.com, BetVictor, Sportingbet, StanJames and Paddy Power to go. Takes freaking ages!!!

Doncaster 12.40 - Not a fully Calculated Risk 12/1, but this horse looked average over 8-10f, but ran on every time, crying out for step up in trip, Quinn/Costello have a decent strike rate here and the horse did run with ease here at Donny, although I'm not sure it's the same track. Should probably find out.

Ludlow 12.50 - Another long shot for the pot. King Helossio 12/1 won an ok PTP in October and guessing price is inflated because of flop on debut over here. Mulholland has 25% SR here and in last 14 days

I'm testing out something here so not expecting to land either of these and have gone off strategy.

3/4 wins yesterday felt better, although had the fourth leg one, I feel far better; 2.5k better in fact. But  alas the final leg bummed me again.

Segal has interestingly picked Flemstar 12/1 for the GC. With stamina doubts, I'm not convinced that hill will suit.

Wolves 3.25 - The Botti runner here Groove On looks well handicapped but I spotted Marvelino in this. This horse on his day is the best in the bunch by far and the market seems to be in his favour. I might get greedy and hit the reverse forecast button.

Wolves 4.25 - Frontier Fighter 10/11 ran a decent race last time out and just didn't move soon enough. Another O'Meara horse who is flying, especially at Wolves.

Wolves 5.25 - Rosie's Lady Evs hacked up yesterday in a canter. 7lb claimer today and no reason why can't land the hatrick.

Urgh. Still not clicking. Going to go back to basics. Course form, trainer form, horse form, etc.

Wolverhampton 3.50 - Rosie's Lady 4/5. Won easily last time out here and trainer is flying (53% strike rate and is 27% here)

Wolverhampton 3.50 - Icy Quiet 3/1. Looked like was given an easy ride last time out. Another O'Meara horse. Biggest danger might be Liberty Love/

Taunton 1.10 - All depends on who you think is better. Puffin Billy or My Tent Or Yours. I was really vexed with McCoy with the way he rode MTOY last time out so I think Best Boy Barney was slightly flattered by proximity to MTOY. Therefore Sound Investment's 4/6 form behind Puffin Billy the one to be one. Nicholls 36% here and 21% last fortnight.

Taunton 2.10 - Saphir Du Rheu 11/8. Again form looks good and another Nicholls horse

Only a couple of winners yesterday and half a dozen placed attempts (some very frustrating ones) which means more losses. Not heavy losses, but still losses. I've nearly

Naas 1.05 - As I was trying to get into Irish racing I tried to follow a few form lines upward and the one I got to was Marito 8/11.

Naas 1.35 - Champagne Fever 1/3 should win by a good 5 or 6 lengths.

Plumpton 2.55 - Tough one. Will take two punts. One a leap of faith in Miko de Beauchene 10/1. Likley to be in decline but probably acheived more than anything in the race and VW is going uber well. The other Present To You 12/1. Form looks good and looks a a good stayer.

Happy New Year folk. I've tried to avoid punting on the racing as much as possible of late as still not having a good time of it. I'll know when it's clicking again! I'm so freaking excited about Chelts already. I'm only going to have a look at handful at each track today.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped up the following:

Chepstow 3.20 - Teaforthree 5/1, Our Island 25/1
Sandown 3.40 - Alfie Spinner 7/1

My thoughts shortly...

8.45am update... No big price outsiders for me today. All prominent in market. Makes life tough if the majority don't win though.

Chepstow 1.35 - Caid Du Berlais 2/1 has solid form in France

Chepstow 2.10 - Shoegazer 9/2 has good opportunity to land another handicap. Down in class and McCoy onboard ought to negate the 7lb rise.

Chepstow 3.20 - Teaforthree was the only one I was going to back and Segal has gone that way to. Assualt on Willhill 5/1. Do it. I tried, but was only allowed to put £8 on at that price. Boooo.

Sandown 12.45 - Kentford Grey Lady 10/11. Has a very good chance at the weights and will stay the distnace

Sandown 1.50 - William's Wishes 5/4 has one more handicap left in him before he moves up into better races I reckon. Domtaline looked a lot further behind Kumbeshwar and I'm reading the ground won't help him.

Sandown 3.00 - Softsong 5/1 ran a blinder here last time out. Chance again with a claimer

Sandown 3.40 - Alfie Spinner 7/1 was Segal's choice and I'll go with him on this as he loves the ground and I've backed him many times before so is a horse I somewhat like. I do think this is a toguh one to call though.

Wincanton 2.05 - Grands Crus bro Gevrey Chambertin 6/4 could be one to stay on side with. Alway have to fear Nicholls at Winny, but even he fear the GC family.

Wincanton 2.40 - Consigliere 9/2 won this last year on similar mark, very very easily and had similar average form coming into it. Pipe reckons has a chance of repeat.
