Bets 28/07/2015 - Glorious Goodwood Day 1

Working all week so am going to struggle with in depth research but hopefully remember a few things, like 5/6f low drawn, hold up runners do well, and above this no real draw bias and hold up runners low drawn usually get merked on the inside rail. Hughes and MJ farm Goodwood.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has tipped:

2.00 Goodwood - Zand 9/1
3.10 Goodwood - Ascription 10/1
3.45 Goodwood - Oasis Fantasy 9/1, Montefeltro 22/1
6.50 Galway - Unsinkable

My go....

2.00 Goodwood - Hannon has no runner so focus on MJ. Pah - though which one. On the face of it, low draw front running Sennockian Star 11/1, last years winner who finished closest to Mashoob wins this? The problem I have today is the ground, good to soft, soft in places. Collaboration 9/1 on the ground wins after bolted up at Chester. If the ground is genuinely soft in places then Mount Logan gets ruled out. If I get dicked over by the going reports again and it's not Mount Logan has a serious chance as is a C&D winner and on a very good mark. The other issue is do I back Fire Fighting 16/1 blind just because is MJ?? hmm

2.35 Goodwood - Again not sure about ground but on form Birchwood wins but I can't help backing Galileo Gold 6/1 who has run and won on this ground. I doubt Al Shaqab spent 600k on this horse for no reason

3.10 Goodwood - Again not sure about ground but on form Dutch Connection wins, Toomore also should win, but something says stick with Segal and back Ascription 10/1

3.45 Goodwood - Oasis Fantasy 6/1 has been hammered but I was really keen on Battersea 8/1 last time out and cruised into contention before I hope lack of match fitness kicked in. Using the Old Newton Cup as formguide so many have chances. At the weights Farquhar beats Battersea but I think is a better horse at Haydock. Battersea should beat Notarised at the weights now. Asteronerous keeps improving but Battersea wins at the weights

4.20 Goodwood - Double Up 3/1 is improving but at the weights Top Boy 9/1 is interesting. Double Up beat him by 1.5 lengths and is now 15lb worse off. However I reckon would have been by more if gone all at and also likely DU has improved whereas TB keeps coming up just short. Either way will back both

4.55 Goodwood - Papa Luigi 5/1 must have a good chance with Hughes onboard

5.30 Goodowood - Can't work out why Strong Steps is favourite. Form on turf doesn't look good enough. Ifwecan 8/1 and Francos Secret 25/1 get my vote although lots have chances
