Bets 12/07/2014

Despite a couple more winners am very unhappy with being told the ground was soft by officials and then good by the jockeys. Totally screwed up a lot of my bets. I would have ploughed Integral had I have known. Anyhow, let’s hope it’s not so weather messy today.

Tom Pricewise Segal from the Racingpost has gone for:

York 1.40 – Dusky Queen 8/1
Ascot 1.55 – Lancelot Du Lac 16/1
York 2.55 – Bold Sniper 6/1
Newmarket 3.15 – Georgian Bay 20/1, Absolutely So 8/1
Newmarket 3.50 – Noozhoh Canarias 7/1

Right, where to start? Ascot GF. Newmarket – who knows? If it was soft most of these would have been withdrawn but they have not. York GF. Too much racing. Argh

York 1.40 - Segal has gone for Dusky Queen 8/1. Back this one last time and got annoyed with Moore, but sure won't screw up again? If does a couple others I like. Navajo Chief 14/1 on a winnable mark, loves York and comes here of back of a C&D win. Royal Rascal 14/1. Ignore last run here as blinkers killed him. Loves York and could improve for step up in trip. Hit The Jackpot interesting but not sure drop in trip is answer and similar story for Awake My Soul 14/1 but has won at trip and is coming back for a G1 race!

Ascot 1.55 – Massive handicap. Looks like high drawn is place to be again which is really unhelpful because 5 of my 6 on shortlist are drawn highest!! Masamah 14/1 last years winner, Racy 20/1 and Barnet Fair 10/1 solid C&D winners get 123. Heard good things about Speed Hawk, but sticking with high draw.

Newmarket 2.05 – SBS have a nightmare season so far, but Golden Town 11/1 can help. Goes on softer, goes at Newmarket and rock solid form.

York 2.20 - I think Shwaiman needs further than this for optimum, but Waila 13/8 will hopefully love this trip. The form with Freedom is good and remember this horse was rated 110 and has now been dropped to 99 for this handicap

Ascot 2.30 – Guest of Honour 7/2

York 2.55 - All the rage for Bold Sniper 6/1 as tipped by Segal. Clever Cookie might find this too fast and massive hike in weights. I like Farraaj but tough at the weights. Educate might struggle in handicaps at this weight too. Queensberry Rules 12/1 looks a good bet. Backed him in big handicap at York last year. Got hampered and trapped and stayed on very well. All 3 of O'Meara horses have a chance, but he not in good form. Tarikhi is tempting, but more a place chance I reckon. Red Avenger 16/1 worth a nibble if produces best York form and the last Epsom race form.

Newmarket 2.40 – Gleneagles 5/2 is bred to win and stay further which will be important. Bolted up in a decent maiden. Ladbrokes are shortest price which a good AOB indicator.

Newmarket 3.15 – Absolutely So 8/1 good pick by Segal, but don’t discount Professor 9/1 who may have won the Wokingham if on the other side

York 3.30 - I'd love Kingsgate Native 11/4 to win, and he might. I've never heard of Take Cover but looks half decent. G Force is one to keep on side, but not sure just upto beating elders? Monsieur Joe 12/1 looks a decent each way bet. He got much closer to Extortionist in last race than Kingsgate Native did and I have a suspicion was conflict of interest in last race MJ ran with JOB riding against an AOB horse who won!

Ascot 3.40 – Felwah 13/8

Newmarket 3.50 - Assuming the ground will be worse than good, Slade Power, Noozzhoh Canarias, Hot Streak and Due Dilligence will all be in the mix. Noooozy has been given a massive write up by Soumillion, we know how good Hot Streak is on soft, but has to do it over extra furlong, Due D was behind Slade Power last time and can't see the reverse. Slade Power 5/2 is a better horse on softer ground and the owners Paddy Power are shortest price so I think that's a tip in itself. Think Hot Streak will be second.

York 4.05 - Ryan won last two renewals. Flaming Spear 11/10 very expensive so expect a winner

York 4.40 - Rhombus 7/1 if ridden more positively

Ascot 4.50 – Charles Camoin 10/1. Forget Epsom x2. Ran well in Spring Cup but more importantly C&D winner of higher mark and SK in form.
